The Vertex, A Week Later
BAM!
Ryan was blasted through yet another door. The hovering robot stood over him, its fist steaming from the impact.
"It's okay, I'm fine. I can try again." Ryan coughed.
"You don't have much of a choice." Sapphire's voice was cold.
On the sideline, Michelle, Dante, and Nichole observed. Michelle winced as she watched Ryan getting tossed around like a rag doll, his body soaring past them with each impact.
"Are you getting your ass kicked on purpose?" Dante chuckled.
"Maybe you should consider a different approach. Try some ranged attacks." Nichole suggested.
"Thanks for the advice—"
The robot zoomed in, tackling him and soaring to the roof. Ryan slammed against the ceiling before being batted down to the mat below, the room quaking in response.
BOOM!
~~~~~
Thirty Minutes Later...
BAM!
Ryan's body hit the floor, his face pressed against the mat, sweat-soaked and defeated. Despite his efforts, the robot remained as unyielding as ever.
Sapphire's exasperated voice cut through the air as she phased through the wall and disappeared.
"Take a break, Ryan. We'll resume in an hour."
"Look, I've been asked to babysit while the others do more training. And as hilarious as it's been seeing you getting your shit rocked for hours, it's getting old." Dante groaned, " Watch and learn, Dragon Boy. "
WHOOSH!
A gust whipped through the room as Dante's hands moved, air spiraling around him. The robot turned, but it was too late. Michelle held her hair down while Nichole shielded her face from the storm.
"Of course, he has to show off. " Nichole muttered.
WHOOSH!
Dante charged, cyclones wrapping his fists as he hammered the robot down. The wind burst out, knocking Ryan off his feet. Michelle caught him bridal style. He quickly slipped free, blushing as she laughed.
"See? How 'bout instead of playing around like a jackass, you finish the fight." Dante shot out a final blast, destroying the machine.
"Well, great, now I gotta build another one..." Ray let out a dramatic groan.
"You build these?" Ryan inquired.
"Duh. You're talking to the team's resident super genius." Ray scoffed in response.
"But you're like ten!"
"I'm twelve, dipshit." Ray flipped him off, "I'm sending in a new one."
Nichole glanced at the emerging new enemy, creating azure whips of water around her wrists.
"Alright, Ryan, maybe try something like this. "
The robot lunged, but Nichole slipped the strike and cracked it with a whip that snapped its head aside. She vaulted over its next attack, water whips coiling its neck, then slammed it into a wall.
"Okay, so try to be patient. " Nichole advised, "Feel out your opponent."
