Moments Earlier...
Citrine moved like a wild animal, springing through the trees as she tore into Karla and Ryan. Karla blocked with bone shields while Ryan met her claws head-on, sparks bursting from each clash. Nearby, Zoe spread frost across the battlefield.
"So is y-your ice friend going to j-join?" Citrine taunted while she tried to hide the sounds of her chattering teeth.
" F-focus up. " Ryan laughed, blocking another attack as Zoe slid behind him.
"How much longer? " Zoe asked telepathically.
"Just a bit more. She's slowing down. " Karla bit her lip, throwing out large tendril swings.
Ryan slipped past another blitz from Citrine, her missed strike shredding a tree behind him. Zoe slid beside him through the frost, and the two shared a quick nod.
With practiced timing, Karla's tendrils yanked Ryan back into the forest. Citrine lunged for Zoe, but Zoe answered instantly, flooding the ground with a sheet of ice.
"I g-g-get it now." Citrine smiled, her ankles now encased in ice.
Karla slingshot Ryan back into the fight. He flipped mid-air and fired both legs forward.
BAM!
His dropkick exploded through the ice wall in a storm of shards, but Citrine slipped away at the last second.
"Y-y-you...almost got me, love. " Citrine laughed.
"That's all I needed to hear. " Ryan replied with a smirk.

BAM! BAM! BAM!
Garnet's shadow clones swarmed Max in a nonstop barrage of kicks, flips, and teleports, forcing him onto defense. Max slammed up earth walls and hurled boulders, but the clones weaved through everything.
Above, Dante dodged shadows lunging from the trees. He formed an air sphere and blasted several away, only for another clone to tackle him from the sky and drag him into the forest as more shadows poured in.
"Max, it's time! Dante burst them away with another whirlwind.
Max leapt backward and slammed his fist into a tree, the impact resonating through the forest.
BAM!
"Did anyone else feel that?" Ray yelled, his thoughts losing focus as he tried to dodge.
"Don't worry about it." Max slammed his foot on the ground.
With raw strength, he swung a massive tree like a bat, scattering shadow attackers as a shockwave of wind burst outward. Dante answered instantly, seizing the air and twisting it into a violent vortex that tore up trees and debris before hurling straight at Garnet.
Garnet darted through the debris, but the storm carved a trail of destruction behind him. He finally landed on the ground untouched, dust settling as he smirked under the sun, surveying the ruin.
"Nowhere for shadows to hide." Dante huffed, chest heaving from the exertion.
Suddenly, two massive walls of earth sprang up and zoomed to crush Garnet! He threw out two rapid kicks that crumbled the walls in an instant. Through the dust, he realized that Max and Dante were now at his sides. He smirked and vanished into Dante's shadow. He flipped out of Max's shadow, landing with a grin.
"That's more like it. "
