After fixing everything with Liam, and Rhett's idea of a Halloween ball for the kids, I almost forgot that there was still drama to fix between me and Grace. The next morning I meet her in the cafe for lunch. She keeps her head down, until I take the empty seat across from her.
"Hey." She sighs. "I was afraid you weren't going to come."
"I almost didn't." I confess, crossing my arms against my chest.
She frowns, and brushes her hair behind her ears. "I know you want me to apologize, but that's not exactly what you're going to get."
I scoff and roll my eyes. "So why am I here, Grace? You had no right to tell my brother about Rhett and me hanging out. It's all innocent."
"Then why was he sleeping in your bed Saturday night?" She asks.
I can't help but laugh. "I fucking knew it; you're jealous."
"Answer me." She spits out.
I roll my eyes again, knowing I'll more than likely be doing this throughout our whole conversation.
"We were on the beach, went back inside to talk, and fell asleep." I tell her. "We woke up around five and he went to the other room. Nothing happened."
Grace frowns again and bites her bottom lip. "He doesn't sleep in beds with girls."
"God, Grace." I groan. "You're dating my brother. Why is this such a big deal?"
"I love Rhett." She confesses. "I fell hard and fast, because he knows what to say to girls to get what he wants. That's what he's doing to you."
"Really?" I question. "Then why did he say no when I almost threw myself at him?"
Grace's eyes widen and her jaw drops. "No you didn't."
"Actually, I did." I say, leaning back in the chair and crossing my arms. "I was pissed the hell off at you and Liam, and he knew that. He didn't take advantage of me. Sorry you were too easy for him and you didn't get what you wanted; that's not my fault."
Grace opens up her mouth to speak, but I raise a finger to stop her.
"And if you can't stay out of my fucking business, then I will let Liam know you're still in love with Rhett, and see how fast he ends it with you."
Grace narrows her eyes at me, but sighs in defeat. "I've only been trying to look out for you, Cari."
"No you've been looking out for yourself. You've been hoping Rhett will want you, and I'm sorry but he doesn't. We talk about everything, and he made it clear that you were just a hookup."
Tears start to fill her eyes and I almost regret the words that are spilling out of my mouth. But she's not being fair to Liam at all. She's wishing she was with Rhett, and just stringing him along hoping that Rhett will want her. I'm looking out for my brother, because he doesn't deserve this.
"If you don't love my brother, after two years of dating, then why are you with him?" I question.
She shakes her head. "You don't know a damn thing about that."
"Don't I?" I question. "You look at Rhett completely different than you look at Liam. I could tell something happened between you and Rhett. My brother loves you, but I don't think you love him."
Tears are falling hard and fast from Grace's eyes. "You're a bitch."
"No, honey." I lean closer to her. "You're the bitch for stringing my brother along. Make up your mind, before I have to do it for you."
