One week of midterms, and three weeks left to Halloween shop. Rhett and I spend every waking moment we can together, just trying to put the finishing touches on everything. Wednesday's we still meet with the kids at the hospital and give them the break down of where we're at so far. Rhett still hasn't told me what we're going to be dressed up as, and we have three days left.
We're sitting in the apartment, sorting out the costume pieces and finalizing the last few details when Liam and Nathan come back from their double date night.
"How was dinner?" I ask, flipping through the stack of clothes in front of us.
"Good, we missed you though." Liam says. "I hate that you and Rhett won't come out with us anymore."
"We've just been busy getting this Halloween party set up." I tell him. "Maybe after it's over we can all do something."
I glance over at Nathan. "I'm dying to meet Tara."
"She's excited to meet you too." He says, rubbing the top of my head.
"Have you and Grace talked yet?" Liam asks.
I keep my head down, avoiding Liam's gaze. "No, we haven't."
"Maybe she should come over so you guys can talk." He suggests.
I shake my head. "Not tonight, we've got so much left to do for Wednesday night."
Liam frowns. "Well hopefully soon then. She's been so distant ever since y'all got in that fight. She won't even tell me what happened."
I know he's expecting me to fill him in on why we're fighting, but I can't do that to him. Not yet. I want to give Grace the chance to decide where she stands with him before I do. I just shrug my shoulders and continue pinning a replica pin to Amanda's Hunger Games costume.
"What's are you guys going to be?" Nathan asks.
I glance at Rhett. "I don't know, he won't tell me."
"It's Sunday and Halloween is on Wednesday, when are you going to tell her?" Liam asks.
Rhett just rolls his eyes. "I found her part yesterday. She just needs to try it on."
He goes into his room and brings out a black bag. "Go try it on and then come guess."
I take the mystery bag into the bathroom, slip out of my jeans and shirt, and unzip the bag. Gold and shimmer are the first things I notice. When the rest of the bag is unzipped, I see a gorgeous gold and glitter, knee length, dress. The fabric clings to my body in all the right ways, accentuating all of my curves. The dress reminds me of the roaring twenties, flapper girls, fringe and glitter. Realization hits and I open the door.
"I'm either Zelda Mae or Daisy Buchanan."
The boys turn around and their jaws drop.
"What?" I ask, suddenly feeling self-conscious. "Does it look that bad?"
"Sis, you look incredible in that." Liam says.
"Agreed." Nathan says. "It's perfect for you."
"You're Daisy." Rhett says, his voice faltering slightly. "And I'm going to be Gatsby."
"You hate The Great Gatsby." I remind him, thinking of the first time we met and how things have changed since then.
"But you love it." He says.
Liam and Nathan both make an aww noise in the background. Rhett flips them off and I just roll my eyes.
"You once said you would've loved to have lived in the twenties, just to be a flapper girl. Daisy wasn't a flapper girl, but it's the next best thing." Rhett explains.
