when he encountered (l/n) (y/n) for the first time, it wasn't the scent of her sweet blood, nor the toxic scent of her being in general that applied to him in an instant—even though he became aware of those details pretty soon. no, it was the look of pure and raw sadness in her eyes. he wondered if a mere human could hold that many emotions without breaking. he was watching her from the back of the classroom, dark eyes scanning over her, slightly slumped down, figure once a while. he wanted her, badly. but, how in god's name could he make her his without revealing who he truly was? jungkook had taken a liking towards (y/n), or even more. still, he was afraid of risking everything. after all, his life depended on it.
— (y/n)'s p.o.v.
i took another sip from my steaming cup of coffee—even though that was difficult; sipping coffee while trying to hold back a yawn. "hey, had another sleepless night?", my best friend (f/n) nudged me with her elbow, grinning slightly. i nodded, still half asleep. "yup, i learned until 3am." as soon as she heard this, (f/n)'s smile faded away, only to be replaced with a look of worry on her features. "you make me worry about you, (y/n). i know that you're stressed out, but don't overwork yourself. one day you'll collapse, and i don't want that."
i smiled softly and waved her off slightly. "don't worry about me, coffee is my best friend!" to be honest, studying wasn't the only thing keeping me awake. it were also countless problems in that family of mine, and other problems with other people as well. still, i would fake a smile, hide the pain and sadness behind a mask. "let's go, i don't wanna be late for the exam.", i told (f/n), while pulling her with me.
when we arrived in the classroom, almost everyone was there, and we made our ways to our seats in the front. i let my gaze wander through the room until it landed on a very certain person sitting in the back. it was jeon jungkook, everyone's crush. for real now, boys and girls fell for that guy, and i myself often ended up wondering if he even was human. like, jungkook was perfect. there was nothing he couldn't do, he aced all kinds of subjects, and was really, really good looking as well. "staring at jeon?", (f/n) whispered into my ear and i quickly shook my head. "o-of course not."
soon, way too soon, the teacher walked into the room. after a talk about cheating and so on, she handed us the papers. i was desperated after reading the first problem only. maths really wasn't my piece of cake, and it was one of the few subjects where i actually scored bad grades. nevertheless, i tried my best to at least get a couple of points. when i looked up, i realized how much time already passed. just then, someone stood up and walked towards the teacher's desk. it was jungkook, who else? this boy always, always finished up first, sometimes even after 30 minutes. it made us all wonder if he had some super brain. like, he was even faster than namjoon, our genius here.
i knew that there was nothing i could do on my sheet of paper anymore, so i decided to give it up. closing the excersise book, i got up, handed it to the teacher and walked out of the room, surprising everyone there. it wasn't like me to give up this early. i let out a sigh and grabbed my bag a bit tighter, staring at my feet once i was outside the classroom. "thank god school's over for now.", i mumbled to myself. the last two classes weren't taking place, so we could head home earlier than expected.
