The academy of sports

I'm off the phone from mark and it was a business call .
I go find Zayn and the others .
"What's up babe " he asks as I sit back down with them .
"There's an elite sports academy here in NewYork and they have heard im in town and asked if I could do a Q and A with them on becoming professional and what's expected all that sort of thing , just a few minutes of my time and I said yes . Jules is flying in tonight , its a last minute thing . its scheduled for tomorrow afternoon and I said I would do it . Il just be an hour maybe and il be back then and we can so something " I reply .

"Il go with you babe , I'd like to " Zayn replies .
"But your working Zayn ?" I point out
"Yea and And thats only until 1 . keeo it off until then . I want to spend every minute with you " he says kissing the corner of my mouth .

I smile back up at him .
"It's settled then " .



" Do you love what you do since you were young or is this something that you discovered gradually ?" A boy in a red jumper asks

I'm at the academy and just starting my Q and A in the grand hall with the students . Zayn is listening off the side of the stage with Jules . She's here for a short time .

"I have loved what I do since I could walk , it's something that excited me from a very young age . I'm not sure how I got into it I just remember asking my dad for a dirt bike when I was 6 and he told me no . But I kept asking until he gave in . The rest is history haha " I reply laughing .

"In the industry is it hard to go pro , do you have a boss ? " Another boy asks laughing . He's quite young maybe 10 or 11 .

"I have a boss . We all have bosses , somebody who's above us no matter what you do . I work for Team Yamaha and my personal team work for them . I have a manager who is my acting agent also , I have Mark who is my publicist and adviser and I have an assistant . They work for them too but they represent me .all the others like coaches and crew they work with all the riders may it be the GP riders or the motocross . So yea I have a boss I guess haha . you never make it as an independent especially in sports . You will always need somebody to snap you up who represents a club or a team . They train you if they see potential or if your lucky you already have what there lucking for . " I reply

"What's your favourite part of what you do is it being able to travel the world ?" a teacher asks and I know it's for the benefit of the students .

"My favourite part is comp season . Once a year it goes on for 8 weeks . Obviously it depends on which sport you do but I'm basing it on mine it's the The XP pro . its the most important and it ranks you in the world . I'm sure you have heard of that and some of you would have been there to spectate .
I'm a freestyle rider so I don't just do one type . To be able to compete and rank you need to be free styling but there's in dependent ranks also so don't worry too much into it and go with what your comfortable with .
So I love the season every year because every comp is different to the next . The more you win the more you earn the more major comps you qualify for . I love that I get to travel too and that's a bonus " I reply .


"Do you train every day , what's your days like as a pro ?" somebody else asks .

"I train whenever I can . I train at home in London where I have the space and at venues before comps . When I'm not training I'm working for my sponsors , may it be photo shoots , add campaigns , attending business social events . When I'm not working for them I'm doing personal promotions like interviews and workshops which are set up by my manager . I don't always do or attend personal parties or do interviews because its important to find balance . You can't always be here or be there because otherwise your to over worked and tiredness and jet lag can affect your ability to ride so I always find balance and you always need me time .
The most important thing is your sponsors . You never let them down , if it means skipping an after party invite at an award ceremony because your up at 5 am for a shoot or something then you don't go the party . You put them first always . As for personal RnR time you can attend as many as you want or do what you want but I always try and chill in between training " I reply

"If you wanted to do something that they didn't organise can you do it ?" another woman asks

"If there's something like nitro then yes I ask first . If they like the idea then they set it up . Nitro is something I do away from the comps and the sponsors . I do it for fun when ever I can but my team do need to sign off on it because they own my name . It's as basic as that . When I did the red nose charity doco that was something personal that had nothing to do with the industry but you still run it by them out of respect . It works both ways " I reply .

"I think that's its for today " Jules announces and there's an awe in the crowd .
"Maybe one more question?" I suggest to her and she motions for me to go on ahead .
I point to a girl at the back who I notice is holding a pad and a pen . She's had her hand up for a bit .

"What other interests do you have besides bikes ?" she asks
I smile at her question because its a personal one .

"I enjoy quads , I have two . I have 2 BMX bikes and surprisingly I can't skate board if you were waiting for me to say boards . I love to ski , dance and watch reality tv in my down time . I'm either doing something extreme or I'm at home chilling watching tv with my boyfriend " I reply and I know the females where waiting for that one .

"Ok if that's all " Jules announces and the crowd clap . I motion for Zayn to come out for a second and he walks onto the stage waving at the crowd . We stay on stage for some pictures that the crowd are taking but Jules ushers us off a minute later .

"That was great babe . Very inspirational " he teases
"Are you making fun of me " I reply with sarcasm and he laughs
"Would I ever " he replies sticking out his tongue .
"Shut up smart ass " I reply pulling him by the collar .
"Bossy as ever " he smiles wrapping his arm around me.
Jules and the head of the academy walk us out using the emergency exit doors out back .
It's a quick getaway now that Zayn's present is known .

What a fun afternoon ...
I wish somebody had told me a long time ago what I had told them there ...

It ain't all peachy ..
It's more like cover ups and shut ups but they know what there doing or I wouldn't be here .
