THE TESTINGSThey wanted her.
Sydney.
They wanted her to be their fighter.
An assassin–no one would expect a child to be an assassin.
And that's what she was for HYDRA–an assassin. But they wanted more.
They wanted an assassin with powers. Someone who could fight with weapons and be like those superheroes...
Those heroes like Sydney's brother and his friends. And that's what they tried to do.
Make her even more of a weapon. They shaved all her hair off, wiped her memory anytime those icky emotions and memories came up, and kept her isolated. They had no way of giving her powers... that was till now.
A HYDRA base in Sokovia received Loki's scepter and was preforming experiments on willing subjects there...
Well, that's how they'd try to give Sydney powers. They travelled to the Eastern Europe country and immediately began performing experiments on the girl.
Long, painful hours they'd expose her to the radiation of the scepter. While she screamed and cried, the men took notes and watched. Even after the radiation exposed, they'd take her right to the chair because of her tears. She'd plead and beg for them not to take her back to the chair as she'd think it'd never do anything good- she couldn't remember anything past a few months ago anyways.
But the men never listened and would still use the chair.
Even still, the chair never stopped her tears.
The chair didn't do much for emotion connections which the scientists didn't know that nor did Sydney... which is probably why she still has emotions because you can't exactly wipe feelings from people)Yet, there was one man in particular- Dr. Brenner- watched her and only watched. It was his job. He was the only American scientist in this HYDRA base as he was in charge of Sydney to make sure everything 'went well enough'.
He was still a dick though. He promised he 'cared about Sydney' but she knew:
No one cared about her.Grueling long weeks past and the experiments turned into testing to see if the radiation did something. To most people, the radiation did something- it killed them.
HYDRA hoped it wouldn't kill her like it did some of the other experiments. That would ruin their plan of a super-powered assassin. The men would sit Sydney down everyday after a radiation session to see if anything changed. To see if powers developed. Almost everyday, nothing happened. That wasn't until one day:
Two guards forcibly pushed Sydney into a chair. She sat, as a scientist came into the room to strap a machine around her head. This machine detected brain wave activity (possibly more but Sydney has no idea what they did)
He placed a simple Coca-Cola can on the counter and walked away, going back to the control room.
