CHAPTER 19
————————
WHEN IS SOON?The Accords... The Accords... The Accords.
That's all that was on Sydney's mind for the rest of the day. Hell, the thoughts wouldn't leave her mind. After hearing from the team, how could she forget about it?The Accords confused Sydney, but she understood them...to a point.
A restriction on superheroes.
A restriction to keep the people of the world safe. She understood that. What she didn't understand was why it was such a big deal?Sydney didn't have a form understanding of how laws worked, so much of the talk about it flew over her head. She didn't understand why Steve didn't want to sign it... or why Tony was so adamant about it.
She paced around her room, looping in circles, trying to comprehend all the thoughts in her head. She tangled her hands in her curls, bitting her lip as she tried to piece it all together.
Why is this such a big deal?
What's going to happen?
Why wouldn't Clint tell me about this?
Did he just find out about it?
Are we going to sign it?
What'll happen next?
What'll happen to the team? She stopped her pacing, taking a deep breath. All this thinking about such serious matters stressed out Sydney.
(Sydney still has issues with her powers.. like with serious emotions like when she was stressed or absolutely furious, they'd go off... she didn't want that)'Calm down, Syd.' She thought, 'it's ok.' She took another deep breath, tapping her foot.
Where could she get some clarity about this?Clint... he was her only option.
The girl sighed to herself when she thought of her brother. She was still mad at him.. how could she not be? She had every right to be upset... but, she could put her emotions aside just so she could have some answers.
Sydney slowly crept downstairs again where the rest of her family resided. Lila and Cooper played outside while Clint and Laura were eating lunch in the kitchen, watching their two oldest kids outside. Baby Nathaniel sat in his high chair, munching away some Cheerios.
Sydney stood between the kitchen and dining room, waiting to be recognized by either adult before she spoke. She still believed it was rude to interrupt a conversation between adults... maybe it was just that instinct from HYDRA still in her.
While she waited, waved to her baby nephew with a grin on her face. The baby returned the gesture with a toothless smile and reached his hands out for her to hold him. The girl smiled sadly, shaking her head no.. that she couldn't hold him at the time.
