CHAPTER 24

VISION: A SURPRISINGLY
GOOD LISTENERSydney was always great at staying still when it came to her assassin training. She found it to be one of the easiest parts, as to why she claims to be "so sneaky" Yet, this came with one exception. This was the one exception—Clint's driving. Keeping still in a van going almost 50 with no seatbelt on isn't the easiest thing, especially for Sydney. Also, it was well known that Clint didn't have a record of being... the best driver, in Sydney's book at least. He always sped and made quick jerking movements, which definitely didn't help Sydney's current circumstances of trying to be sneaky and hide.
Finally, the van slowed as it arrived on a dirt, bumpy road. The little bumps shook Sydney and she still struggled to stay still, but fear of being caught overtook her struggle. The van came to a complete stop before the large white building. Sydney peeked up just high enough to expose her eyes to the window and the top of her curly hair. She took in all her surroundings and couldn't see where she was. She noticed large fields of grass in the dark and got a good look at the building with an "A" sign on it—Sydney remembered it now—The Avengers Facility, home base. It was just as clean and pristine as she left it. She wondered how the team was doing now due to the Accords. Nothing bad, she hoped.
Clint turned off the engine and jumped out of the van, arrows on his back, not even locking up the van. (Lucky Sydney) Now her brother was completely out of sight, that meant she could properly sit up and try to see where he was going or what he was doing. All she could really see were trees and the building. Suddenly, one of the trees in the distance shot up in flames when the noise of the explosion hit her ears, Sydney flinched at the sound. What could've done such a thing? Probably... oh! Clint had an arrow for explosions that Sydney was never allowed to touch or use. That must've been what did that.
Sydney decided now was the best time to leave the vehicle and see what Clint was doing that was so important to leave his family. Sneaking toward the base, Sydney stayed at one of the many windows, standing on her tiptoes to see what was happening inside. At first, she only noticed Clint and Wanda talking. Then, Vision returned through the wall after investigation the explosion. That turned into a small fight between Clint and Vision, to which Clint got his ass kicked. Sydney's eyes widened, baffled by what she was watching. She didn't understand why this was all happening? Why were they fighting? Why was Wanda not doing anything? What was this all for?
She couldn't answer that. All she knew... was something was wrong within the team.
Vision held Clint in a chokehold before Wanda used her powers on the robot to help Clint out. One minute, Vision was pushed to the floor with Wanda standing fiercely before him, her hands laced with red energy... and then... he was gone. She pushed Vision through the floor. And before Sydney could even process what she'd seen, Wanda and Clint were gone. That's when Sydney realized her mistake.
