CHAPTER FOUR
—————————-
PROMISE?

In honesty, Sydney thought she died.

After being choked by a robot and thrown across a room, it could easily give her that impression.

The girl crashed through a glass pane and slid till she hit a wall. She was less hurt than she should've been... but she was still in some pain.
She laid across the ground for a couple minutes, still not believing she lived.
It wasn't till she could feel herself breathing was when she realized she hadn't quite died.

She wished she died at this point.

Why would Ultron do that?
Yes, it was clear from the beginning he didn't like Sydney... but she had been nothing but helpful for him... and he throws her away like trash.

Then again, what's new for Sydney?
Ultron was right: she was nothing.

She slowly pushed herself up on her arms, wobbling as she did so. She pushed herself against the wall and leaned her head against it. She took deep breaths, enjoying the fact that she could now breathe, though it hurt to do so.

A loud commotion came from the floor below. Gunshots and loud metal clashing were among the noises heard. The exact spot where she had been thrown from. The Avengers were duking it out with Ultron and the twins.

That's good.

Currently, Sydney just wanted to go to sleep. Her vision spotted with black dots made her slowly close her eyes, but she fought to stay awake.
Her neck hurt. Two nasty bruises lined the side of her neck where the robot's was as two cuts bled slowly right underneath them.
Those tears still burned her eyes as the pain was almost too much to bear. She barely got hurt back under HYDRA base as she was almost never sent out. (Inside was a different kind of hurt)
The pain was new and this pain hurt.

She brought knees to her chin, rocking her body back and forth.
'Hold together. Hold together.' She told herself, over and over again.
She wasn't weak.
She couldn't be seen as weak.
Not when the Avengers were here.

Sydney heard footsteps running down the hall. The noise got louder and closer. Loud shouts callings her name:

"SYDNEY!?"

She wanted to get up and run away, afraid of who it was going to be, but she didn't have enough strength right now.
The girl rose her head and saw the man she'd seen days before.
The archer!
Clint? Was that his name? She believed so.
He slid on his knees toward her. His face full of worry and fear.
