CHAPTER 23
—————————-
SNEAKY SYDNEYThe tension between Sydney and Clint couldn't be cut with a knife–that's how strong the tension was in the house. The two weren't on speaking terms anymore. At all. Well, at least for the time being. Neither sibling spoke to each other since the night of the fight. Neither refused to make eye contact or even be in the same room! It had been a week since then and neither sibling budged...
But Sydney almost did. Her heart ached to apologize to her brother, it wasn't in her nature to hold such a grudge against someone she cared about... she knew it was wrong of her to yell at him for breaking a rule. She knew he was just trying to protect her... but... she believed he wasn't handling it the right way. The rules were dumb and were bound to be broken eventually... the poor girl was going crazy in the house and Clint didn't see that. But instead of Sydney still being full of rage, unlike her brother, she was truly sorry.
Sydney wanted to apologize... really she did... but... not until Clint felt the same way. She wanted the apology to be mutual, both parties coming together to realize they both were wrong... but she knew that was wishful thinking. Clint was too headstrong for that. That's just how he always was and would always be. It sucked but that's what Sydney was used to. But fights never lasted this long and were never that nasty. Eventually Clint would come around... but not right now. Not after that fight.
The fight opened a new door of thought for Sydney. Clint exposed what Sydney believed to be his actual thoughts about her that night. He didn't really care about her. He wished she never came to him when she was little. He wished she was never here. And god did that break Sydney even more.
Maybe it was the anger talking... and anger made many people say things they truly didn't believe. But the fact that he didn't want to apologize either silently confirmed those thoughts to the girl.Sydney soon began to think that safe around Clint anymore. She now knew that he didn't really care for her... she was just a burden to him that he wished would leave his life.
Words hurt like knifes, cutting deep holes in the heart, wounding the victim so bad that the attacker never could've imagined the pain...
Sydney was suffering in silence due to the words spoken by her brother and he didn't even notice... it truly was an awful last week.Today was the day. The day Sydney should've been looking forward to.
Should have.Boating trip day.
A day Sydney wished she could've been looking forward to. A day she could've been out with her family and out in a semi-public place. A day full of sunshine and fun activities with her family... but nope. That was part of her grounding—no boating trip.
