CHAPTER 16

BORED DAYSThe Bored Days could be the term used to describe the few days where the house was completely empty... well, completely empty to a degree because Sydney was still home.
These days weren't consistent but varied when it happened. For every two weeks , the house was this empty for two (depending on Clint)
The house was empty for a multitude of reasons: Laura needed to take the children to school and took baby Nathaniel with her while Clint went to sell some of the livestock and products they made on the farm or buy groceries for the family. These were the days where Sydney was in the house. Alone. By herself. When this first begun, Sydney couldn't bear being alone for multiple hours. (Not too long though... Laura would only be gone for 3 + hours as the school was fairly far away and Laura would stop for a coffee with some of her friends along with baby Nathaniel of course) She didn't know what to do!
But overtime, she learned to entertain herself.Today was one of those days.
Sydney lied across her bed early one morning, alone in her room with the door closed.
Her room, which actual became her favorite room in the house. It was the only place she got a little privacy and it was her room... and her room only.
The room had slightly been updated in a year with the same paint job but with new objects and other furniture moved around.
Her bed sheets was now a light shade of grey. A new dresser sat in a corner of the room with brand new clothes stacked neatly inside . (clothes she didn't pick but were picked out by Laura and Clint. Mostly flannel but the girl didn't mind. She liked flannel)
The old radio Sydney used to find Ultron sat upon her desk with other books scattered across it. It truly look like a teenager's bedroom now and not a exhibit in a museum.Sydney held a book in her hand, reading with such curiosity. The book in hand was from The Magic Tree House series.
Sure, it wasn't the most difficult book to read, but the girl found joy in this book. It was interesting to her to see children going on adventures!Clint knocked on her quietly, not trying to disturb the girl, just in case she was sleeping. The girl didn't even look up from the book and swung the door open with her mind.
"What did we say about using your powers to open doors?" Clint asked with his arms crossed.
"That it's... okay?" Sydney nervously answered, no blood dripping from her nose. Her powers grew strong enough where her nose wouldn't bleed for quick, simple tasks.
Clint and Laura didn't like when Sydney 'relied too much on her powers'. They wanted her to 'be normal' and use her powers for other things... like throwing arrows!
Sydney disagreed. How else would she develop her powers? It's not like she could actually do anything on this farm..
Using them for simple things would help develop them slightly more than not using them at all!
