CHAPTER ONE

HAVE WE MET?

It was supposed to be a day like any other day. Supposed to be
Sydney was supposed to have testings and trainings...
Supposed to
But none of that happened today.

What no one knew, was that the Avengers were about to raid the base for Loki's scepter but find someone they had been looking for was here as well.

Sydney lied across her bed, gripping onto a teddy bear as tight as possible. She was still exhausted from the day before and the testings that yesterday had. Her eyes stained red from crying the night before. She just wanted some sort of comfort so she held onto that teddy bear for dear life.

That teddy bear was a life-line for Sydney in the past year. It provided the only source of comfort for her in the past year. It was the only thing that made her feel human. No one treated her like she was human. The men treated her like a toy. And the other two experiments? Well... they really didn't notice or talk to her.

The girl could hear loud footsteps rushing down the hall and yells from the outside of her room. She slowly sat up, rubbing her eyes. She wondered what was going on. The base was never this active... no one ran up and down the halls and no one was ever this loud.
She could sense that something was happening.

A speaker in her room blared:
"REPORT TO YOUR STATIONS IMMEDIATELY. THIS IS NOT A DRILL. WE ARE UNDER ATTACK!"
Ah, so that's the huge commotion. Someone was attacking the base.

Sydney mumbled something incoherent under her breath as she trudged to the door of the room. There was no way she could get herself out.
She looked around the room just trying to find a way out, but like always, there was not.

The girl bounced on the balls of her feet as she tried to think of a way out. Her mind immediately went to using her powers.
Well... she'd try!

She lifted her hand toward the door and concentrated her mind toward it. If looks could kill, someone right outside that door would be dead because her glare was piercing the door.

But nothing happened.

Sydney yelled in frustration, banging her hand on the metal door.
An idea went off in her head.
Keep banging and someone will hear her.
She kept slamming her wrists against the wall, hoping to catch someone's attention.

Today must have been her lucky day. As if someone read her thoughts, the door swung open to reveal the two prized pupils of the experiments, Wanda and Pietro Maximoff, the twins.
(So someone did read her thoughts)
