CHAPTER TWO
—————————————
THE ROBOT WITH A PLANThe three experiments found their way out of the HYDRA base and into the city not far from the base.
The city...wasn't in the best shape but it was a major improvement from where Sydney was living before.
The people smiled at her and actually acted nice despite how poor the living conditions were for them. It was definitely a huge change from how the men were at the base. While out there, Sydney's attitude changed a bit. Sure, she was still soft spoken and slightly overwhelmed with all the people, but she would smile without covering her mouth.
She had nothing to fear- no more chair or hiding emotions, none of those rules applied out here.On the third night in the city, the three decided to explore the market in the middle of town. Pietro, quote, 'found a bag full of the exact things the poor civilians needed and thought it would be a good thing to give it to them'. He tried pushing that story on the two girls but neither of them believed him. They just let him care on with it.
While he handed out their supplies, Wanda and Sydney explored the market.
Originally, Sydney was scared to go out due to her odd looks a normal thirteen-year-old wouldn't have.
Wanda assured her that no one there could care less.
'Just live life a bit and enjoy what you see'Wanda dragged Sydney booth to booth to show her what the real world of shopping in Sokovia was. Booths full of jewelry and clothes, booths full fruit that was labeled fresh but clearly was at least a week or two old, and booths with women trying to sell to people that they could see their future were littered throughout the market. As odd as it was, it was all brand new to Sydney.
Besides that, it was nice to have Wanda treat her more like a friend than an acquaintance.Wanda would hold up jewelry she liked and asked Sydney her opinion about it.
The girl didn't know what to think about jewelry or the other options around the market. She wasn't provided jewelry like Wanda was back at the base... it's not like the girl really wanted it.
But the jewelry looked nice."How about... this one!"
She held up a small chain braclet of Sydney to look at.
Wanda brightened around all these jewelry like a kid would in a candy store. She was loving this. Sydney, not so much.
For the girl, the jewelry looked just like the last one."I dunno..." she mumbled, fiddling with the chain.
"There's got to be something here you like." She gestured around the booth in front of them. "There's something for everyone."
"Pay?"
"I think with what Pietro's doing-" the two watched him hand out pills to an older gentlemen, "it would be more than covered... but I also have a few extra dollars."
"Are you sure?"
"Positive." Wanda assured her, "jewelry makes people look pretty."
"Pretty?" The girl tilted her head to the side, confused.
Sydney hasn't heard that word be used in the HYDRA base. No one would ever compliment Sydney or even use a word close to pretty.
