CHAPTER 25
————————-
TOGETHER WE STAND...

Truthfully, Sydney didn't like Europe. Well, parts of it. Perhaps this was due to her time in Sokovia with HYDRA... maybe she just didn't like Sokovia. But Berlin was different. From her seat on a private plane, her backpack pressed against her chest, her eyes locked with the city as they flew over.

Wait... Sydney got ahead of herself. It would be best to describe how she got here. Well, Vision told Sydney everything that had happened in the year of her absence. With vivid details. Some of which made the young Barton a little uncomfortable... not long after, Tony returned to the headquarters after he finished his little recruitment of this other boy and found exactly what Vision told him: Sydney. The billionaire missed the lively spirit of the girl (secretly) and Sydney definitely missed her old teammate. Sydney ran in for the hug to which Tony slowly returned it. He tried questioning her, but the girl just told him Vision could tell him.

Within minutes of arriving, Tony told Sydney that they needed to leave. And before Sydney could ask a question, Tony hastily explained that they had only more than 24 hours to retrieve Steve back on behalf of the government... it had something to do with the ACCORDS. Sydney didn't quite understand. She wanted to ask questions, but the two with her just told her to hop on the plane and go to Berlin with them. It was Avengers business and she'd be rewarded greatly for helping Tony and the U.S Government.

Avengers Business! That made Sydney feel important. Like she was a part of the team again.

Therefore, without much persuasion after that, Sydney hopped on a plane to Europe to help Tony.

So, now here Sydney was, on a plane to Berlin to stop parts of her old team and her older brother. But being young and naïve, she didn't understand what was at stake... or what exactly she was doing. Fighting. That's all she knew and all she was told. She didn't particularly mind. It got her back into what she'd known all her life and what she wanted to do.

But also currently, she wasn't thinking about the upcoming fight. No, her eyes blissfully widened at the sight of the large city below her. Her hands were pressed against the window like a child would when looking at the snow that had fallen from their window. It was very childish, but it made sense coming from Sydney.

"Like the view, huh?" Tony asked from his seat, hiding his smile behind his hand.

Sydney quickly nodded her head. Her eyes were full of a childlike elatedness. It was such a simple thing, but it meant the world to Sydney. She thought it to be so cool. "I... I can't remembering seeing a city... before. Like... in person."

It was sad to hear. Yes, Sydney gained many memories back... but some just never came back. Specifically, ones about the world around her. She just wanted to experience it.

Deep down, Tony knew Clint had good intentions with Sydney. He wanted to protect her from the horrors of the world she'd been exposed to at such a young age. But also, Sydney was a growing girl, a teenager. She couldn't be held down if she didn't want to be. That's the part he thought Clint didn't understand. He heard Sydney's side of the story and it was clear she was begging for more social interaction other than her family. She missed her team. It was wrong to rope her into this mess, something she clearly didn't understand at all... but his team needed her and her powers if they ever thought to round up the other criminals.
