Carls Pov
The day was slowly coming to an end, I sat in my cell reading a book to Ethan as he sucked on his tiny fingers. God I love him so much, he really brings out the softer side in me. As I read I hear foot steps coming towards my cell. One after the other click-clack-chick-clack..... I look up from the book and there stood Lexi. She wore a light yellow spring dress which I'm guessing was Beth's and a pair of brown leather heel boots, very country looking. I smiled up at her and motioned her to come inside. She walked over to me and sat down on the bed. As she sat on my bed I noticed her hair had gotten longer and it was in lose curls. She looked outstandingly beautiful, I wish I could tell her that but she could think i'm weird or a pervert. She looks at me and smiles. She caught me staring great Carl don't make a fool of your self . She noticed the sudden redness rising upon my cheeks and to make it less awkward she began to speak
"Carl supper is ready, and there is a surprise desert" she smiled after that and got up.
"I'll meet you in the cafeteria" I said putting the book down on my night stand.
Ethan looked up at Lexi and started to reach out for her. Tears started to form in his little eyes. Lexi smiled and looked at me if it was okay , I nodded and she nelt down beside me and took Ethan into her arms. His tears slowly stopped and he begin to smile the biggest little smile I have ever seen on his face. She kissed his forehead pushing a little piece of hair out of his eyes and he grabbed her thumb and held onto it for dear life. He looked so happy.
As she was about to give him back to me Ethan spoke a soft word. Surprising both me and Lexi, we just stared at each other like we couldn't believe what he had just said. He repeated the word and she looked away from my glaze and stroked his cheek.
"My sweet child, you are such a smart boy, is this your first word" he smiled up at her and giggle a little before saying the word once more. I looked up at her nodding to tell her it was alright. She nodded back understanding what I meant.
" Mommy's here" she said beginning to walk out of the cell with him.
"I already got you food just come and sit with us when your ready" she called as she disappeared. I just smiled to myself and got up. I wonder what's for dessert.
