Chapter 6

As I open up a can of baby formula, I feel a set of blue eyes staring at me. I try to ignore it, but it was burning a hole right through me. I turn around to see Carl playing with the baby while it giggled happily. It was cute how good he was with kids and Carl actually looked happy for once. I turned back around finishing what I was doing and walked over to Carl handing him a blue baby bottle. He took the bottle and started to feed the baby. I walked outside and sat on the porch looking at the stars. They were bright and beautiful. I have never seen stars before people now are too busy surviving to look up and watching something so interesting that I could honestly watch for hours.

As I watch the sky above that is a purplish black I hear someone sit beside me. I look beside me and Carl was sitting looking at the ground.
"I put him upstairs in a baby crib," Carl said almost in a whisper
He looked at me while I looked at him.
" What do you want to name him," I said in the exact tone as his.
He smiled and shook his head.
"Um maybe Jackson or Ethan," he said looking back at the ground
" I like the name Ethan it's cute," I said touching his shoulder. He looked up at me. His eyes were the brightest blue I've ever seen before not like the dark blue they usually are.
"Then it's settled his name is Ethan," He said with a slight chuckle at the end.
" I'm sorry.... I was so worried about you after you left" Carl softly whispered. Carl just apologize? That's really surprising for a boy who acts like he has no emotion.
" I'm sorry for yelling Carl, I'm just stressed," I said softly.
He looked into my eyes, it was dark but It wasn't that dark so I could see them clearly.
He slowly leaned in and our lips meet moving in harmony. It was gentle and loving something not exacted from a boy like him. We broke apart for air and smiled at each other.
"Carl we should go inside" I whispered out of breath. He took my hand. We walked inside locking the door and sitting on the couch.
" Lexi gets some rest I will take first watch" Carl whispered kissing my cheek. What's up with him lately, something happened when I was gone and I need to find out but for now sleep is what I need.
I nodded and gently laid on the couch shutting my eyes immediately falling into a restless sleep.
Carl POV
I quietly get off the couch and sit on the floor so she has more room. She looks so cute when she sleeps, sometimes I tend to watch her sleep after a nightmare it just helps for some reason. I sigh, I just can't take being mean to her, I have feelings for her, today I almost lost the one thing that brings me joy. Maybe if I'm nice I can keep her by my side so she can't get hurt. The baby is going to be the thing that will make us have to spend more time with each other. It is like our child now. I have two people that I need to protect and I'm making a promise to myself
There my main concern now
She will be mine soon
