As soon as she entered the room, Brenda looked around to the people sitting in the chairs. Her eyes locked with Thomas. He found himself smiling.

She was safe. That was all that mattered.

She ran to him and hugged him tightly. All worries left his spirit. He was floating in air, free.

Then he looked across the room to where Teresa was sitting. He saw the tear falling from her eye and the way she quickly wiped it away, without anyone noticing but himself.

Something clicked in his mind and he backed away from Brenda.

"Brenda come and stand here" The Rat Man said. Brenda obeyed still looking at Thomas, as if reassuring him of something.

"Teresa come stand next to her" Teresa looked frightened. But she was strong. Thomas knew that much. She stood up walked up to where Brenda was.

The silence was unbearable.

"Thomas" The Rat Man said. "One name."

Thomas was confused.

The Rat Man continued. "You have to choose one name. Teresa or Brenda. Now, what I am asking is that which of these girls do you not trust? Which of these girls do you hate?"

Teresa and Brenda looked at Thomas. The answer was obvious. Thomas couldn't understand what the purpose of all that was. But it didn't matter. The truth was the truth.

And the truth was that he hated Teresa.

One name. One name. One name. Thomas continued to think in his mind.

"Teresa" he said.
