CHAPTER TWENTY - EIGHT

Minho broke the door and ran out of the white room. Thomas stared out blankly at his friend.

Why was Minho so desperate to save Teresa?

The way that Minho was acting just meant one thing to Thomas: he was in love with her.

But how could it have happened? Why did Thomas not know about it in the beginning?

How could he? He was running after Brenda...

Minho could have Teresa. But Brenda was just his. He ran out of the room to go look for her, while the other Gladers shouted at him that they were going to look for Newt.

That would have been the plan. He was going to get Brenda, while Minho, for whatever reason, was going to save Teresa and the Gladers were going to get Newt.

Then everyone could have run together for their lives. Out of WICKED's power.

Thomas ran towards where his heart pulled him to.

He followed his it as he knew he could trust his own heart.

Teresa recovered from the initial shock. Her hair were gone but she was still alive.

It's only hair that's she lost...at least it didn't hurt.

It wasn't like her heart that hurt the most even without being injured. How was it possible that the wound in her heart was the most powerful and painful she had ever received, and still it didn't bleed?

That's what Teresa was thinking when the double doors of the operation room opened. She was ready to jump back and she managed to hide under the bed.

They came back...a nurse and the doctor.

"Where is she?" the doctor was asking, panic in her voice. "We left her right here, and she was under strong drugs. How can have this happened?"

"I knew she was a strong subject. We should have expected this. Where is she now?"

Teresa felt dizzy under the bed. She was suffocating and knew it must have been the drugs.

"We took away half of her brain cells but still she's alive and moving...and she had enough force to scream out! What is this girl?"

Took away half of my brain cells? Teresa thought. That explained the pain in her head and why she felt so dizzy. It was insane that she could still move after that.

The nurse and the doctor went out, still arguing about Teresa's disappearance.

When she heard the doors close she came out of under the bed and slowly sat down on it.

She was thinking about all that she had heard. It explained why all her hair had vanished all of a sudden but it scared her still, the fact that they managed to get inside her brain and then out, without causing serious damage.

Teresa was still on the bed when the double doors exploded and someone came in running.

Teresa stood up with a jolt and that movement made her scream out in pain. Her head was exploding. She didn't have time to hide so she ran forward, head in hands. She was going to die but not let anyone mess with her brain anymore.

She went straight for the doors and banged in a wall.

No...it was a person. Someone that caught her in his arms.

Teresa looked up and saw...Thomas.

He had come. Then the image cleared and there was Minho's face in front of her.

Minho had come for her. Not Thomas. Minho.

She fell into his arms and let go of the pain.
