I ONLY EVER CARED FOR... [THOMESA]

CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE

Brenda and Thomas turned away from Minho and Teresa.

The Gladers still couldn't believe what was happening around them. It seemed impossible that Minho could love Teresa. They had never though of him like the romantic type. But then again, it was the Maze that had made him that way. Before the maze he was normal like every other boy, he wasn't the keeper of the Runners then. He had feelings as well.

Minho took Teresa's hand and they all started to walk towards the end of the corridor.

"We need to get out of this hell of a bloody place." Newt said.

Everyone agreed.

They started running as everyone was scared that WICKED soldiers will come and get them.

After many corridors Teresa started to feeling an ache in her head. She knew that she wasn't going to make it.

She was a burden on them all.

The only chance they had for escape was now, and all she was doing was slowing them down.

"Minho" she whispered. He stopped dead on his feet.

"What is it Teresa?" she looked at her so intensely it made her almost cry. "Are you okay?"

"No, Minho...I think you guys should leave me. I can't..." she looked at the ground.

"Don't." Minho said "Never say those words to me Teresa. I am not going anywhere without you. I'll die myself rather than leave you here."

Teresa was still looking at the ground when she felt herself being picked up and she was again in Minho's arms.

He started running again, reaching the others.

It was when they had almost reached a door that a loud bang made them stop.

"What is that bloody sound?" Newt asked, looking around himself.

"It sounded like a bomb just exploded." Thomas said. He was right.

Straight after that first sound there were other bombs that exploded. They started running as the ceiling above them started to fall.

The walls started to tremble and they didn't know what to do.

Teresa got to her feet again as she didn't want to be a burden on Minho. He took her hand and they ran.

Then suddenly there was a loud bang just up on their heads and a big piece of ceiling fell in the middle between them.

Teresa fell on a side.

She got to her feet and looking around saw that the only other person left with her on this side of the room was Brenda. They had been separated by the others.

It was only them.

Teresa and Brenda.

The others were on the other side.

Brenda got to her feet and she looked at Teresa.

"This is the moment I was waiting for." Brenda said. "A moment with you alone to end all of this."

She smiled "Just a moment. Then you'll be gone. Forever."
