chapter eight | the follow
After a long day of not getting anywhere with Artemis the group of Shadowhunters decided to not waste their time with going back to the school. At the moment all four shadowhunters were in bed. Moat of them were asleep, but there was one who couldn't sleep. Alec was wide awake because he was thinking of a plan. A plan that didn't make sense because he didn't even know the blonde girl. But he of course was going to give it a shot.
Alec was just about to shut his eyes to get some rest when he heard the police sirens going off outside. He sprinted toward the window just in time to open the blinds and see a car race by.
Alec's best friend Jace, who happened to be asleep at the time, walked up to Alec. "What's going on?" He asked as he as well looked through the blinds. By know the car was gone but you could still hear the sirens.
"Some police car just drove by." Alec replied as he shut the blinds. A million questions were running through his head, but before he could convince Jace to follow him they heard Clary wake up.
The red head stood up from her bed as she walked toward the boys. "What's with all the noise?"
"There must be an emergency or something." The Lightwood boy replied as both Jace and himself turned toward her.
"Do you guys want to go check it out?" Izzy asked from her bed. She was now wide awake and at the moment was pulling her hair up into a ponytail. By now the police sirens were fading away, but soon it got loud again because another car had driven by.
"Maybe we should. What if it has to do with Valentine?" Jace asked even though Alec had a feeling that wasn't the case.
"Do you really think Valentine followed us all the way over here?" Alec voiced his concern.
"If he knows where the cup is then it wouldn't surprise me." Clary replied from besid Jace.
"Okay then," Izzy spoke as she stood up from her bed. "let's go find out what's happening."

The teens did the best they could to follow the police, but it was hard to keep up when you didn't want them to know you were following them. When they finally made it to the hospital they saw a blue jeep parked outside. The four shadowhunters grabbed their weapons as they walked towards the front doors.
As they waked in they could hear a big thump coming from the top of the building. With each thump the building shook and the Shadowhunters couldn't help but think that the hospital was going to come down.
As they walked down the hall they heard a big growl come from the other side of the hospital. With just hearing that the hunters looked at each other. All thoughts of Valentine being the cause of this went out the window because whatever that thing was had nothing to do with the shadow world.
The group started to run towards the sound and at that moment the growl sounded again. This time the growl came from one of the top floors.
Right when they reached the forth floor the hunters stopped to look at the damage. The walls had pieces of fire in them and everything was a mess. They started to walk down the hall but stopped when they saw Artemis with two boys and a Sheriff.
"What is Artemis doing here?" Clary asked as she watched the blonde walk ahead of them. Artemis was busy looking at the damage on the wall to notice the group behind her.
"Maybe she knows what's going on." Jace spoke as they walked closer to Artemis. They followed after her as she turned the corner. They stopped as soon as they saw what looked like a man on fire hit the wall.
"Parrish?" The Sheriff asked the man who had it the wall. "You okay?" The man didn't speak. "Deputy!"
Right when the shadowhunters turned to look at Artemis they saw her walk down the hall with one of the boys. The other one wasn't far behind as he looked back at the Sheriff.
"We should go back." Izzy spoke to the group.
Alec nodded in agreement. He had a feeling that things were just going to get worse. So at the moment all he wanted was to leave the hospital. "Izzy's right." He whispered. "We need to leave before they know we're here."
At that moment they hadn't realized that Artemis had walked up to them. Right when Alec stood up straight he came face to face with a very angry looking blonde.
"What do you people think you're doing here?!" She snapped as the two boys walked up behind her. They didn't look to happy to see the group of new kids spying on them. With a roll of his eyes Alec had a feeling they would be getting a lecture soon.
