chapter five | the hate behind a mistake
The three teens continued to walk through the tunnels until Scott stopped. His hand reached out to stop Artemis as she looked down the tunnel. That's when she saw a snake sculpture, but Scott never mentioned it as he said, "Do you feel that?"
Artemis stared weirdly at Scott before saying, "No."
"Like something's vibrating." Liam added while nodding in agreement. "I can't tell where it's coimg from."
All Artemis could do was star around the dark tunnels in confusion. After all she wasn't supernatural like them. She was a hunter and that was it. She was missing all their other senses.
When the blonde looked back at Liam she saw him on the ground. His hand was almost touching the floor as he looked back at them. "It's coimg from everywhere." The beta replied as he looked up at the older teens.
Scott looked back at Artemis as he let out a sigh. The blonde smiled slightly at him before grabbing his hand in hers. They looked back at Liam when he started to talk again. "I was just trying to do something right." Artemis rolled her eyes again.
"You do a lot right." Scott replied while Artemis let go of his hand. She crossed her arms over her chest instead because she didn't like where this conversation was going.
"Yeah, but I did one really wrong thing." Artemis knew exactly what he was talking about. He had tried to kill Scott.
"Hayden's alive." Scott said while Artemis rolled her eyes again. The blonde didn't understand how that girl was still alive, but she had a feeling Theo was behind that.
Deciding to voice her thoughts on how she felt about the beta's girlfriend Artemis mumbled, "Sadly." Scott shook his head at her. He couldn't understand why a sweet girl like Artemis could hate someone so much.
Deciding to speak again Scott told his beta, "Everything before that doesn't matter."
"Are you kidding me?!" Artemis snapped while she threw her arms out angrily.
"Artemis..." Scott tried to say but Laim cut in. Which honestly surprised both Scott and Artemis.
"No, Scott. Artemis is right it should. I feel like I had to do more than just say sorry."
"You haven't even apologized yet!" Artemis snapped again. The blonde was getting beyond mad by the beta's poor apology.
"Back at my old school." Liam ignored her. "At Devenford, I got into a fight with this kid. I knocked two of his teeth out. They made me write a letter of apology. We both knew it meant nothing. We both knew that sooner or later, we're gonna get into another fight." The beta paused. "I can't just say sorry."
