chapter nine | a kept secret

The second Artemis walked through the front doors of the hospital she knew something was wrong. The hospital was a mess and as they walked towards the forth floor the blonde got a weird feeling that someone was watching her. As the group walked towards Parrish Artemis moved around the corner and stopped Scott from walking any further.

Finally voicing her concerns she grabbed onto her brother's arm. "Do you feel like someone is watching us?" The blonde asked in a whisper.

"Yeah, and I hear them talking." Scott paused as he saw the look on Artemis's face. From the looks of it Artemis had an idea of who had followed them. "There down the hall, be careful." Scott continued. He knew there was no point in hiding that the people who followed them were down the hall. He knew his sister wasn't going to stop until she found out who was there. The blonde finally nodded as she walked back down the hall.

When she reached the corner she saw the same group of teens from earlier that day. Artemis couldn't believe the knew kids had the guts to follow the police to the hospital. But because they had followed them Artemis felt a sense of anger wash over her. She didn't like the fact that these new people thought they could just stop by and see what was happening.

As soon as Artemis saw the boy with jet black hair stand up she said, "What do you people think your doing here?!"

"We, um," Clary paused as she glanced between her friends. No one had the guts to say anything. With a sigh Clary said, "We heard the police sirens and we just wanted to see what was going on."

"Why?" Artemis asked as she crossed her arms over her chest. She couldn't understand why they would want to be involved in this kind of stuff. Not to mention it was non of there business. "You guys have no business being here."

"Then why are you here?" Alec asked the blonde. He was at full height now and Artemis had to move her head up to gaze into his eyes.

Artemis rolled her eyes while trying not to say the real reason why she was here. "My best friend's dad is the Sheriff. Every time something happens we come to help. Now you guys need to leave."

"Artemis, wait." Scott called as he and Stiles walked towards her. Scott looked as if he was about to regret his decision. Stiles on the other hand was beyond mad to see these new people at the hospital. "We need to ask them how much they saw first before we let them leave."

It was 4 am when the teens walked through Scott's front door. They all gathered around the table as Artemis sat on one of the chairs. "What where you guys doing at the hospital." Scott asked the group of newcomers.

Alec looked back at Jace before he spoke up. "We where in bed when we heard the police sirens."

"We wanted to see what was going on so we followed the police to the hospital." Izzy added.

"Did you guys see anything?" Stiles asked as he crossed his arms over his chest.

"See what exactly? " Jace asked as he shifted from foot to foot.

"Anything weird?"

"Well, if by weird you mean seeing a man on fire hit the wall then, yes." Clary spoke up as she took a seat beside a standing Jace.

Artemis stood up at this and stared at both Scott and Stiles. Scott just nodded at his sister as if already knowing what she thought. "You guys have to promise you won't say anything about what you saw." Artemis said.

"Sure." Jace replied. "If you tell us what's really going on in this town."

Scott shook his head. There was no way the pack was saying anything to these people. "It's best if you guys don't know. The less you know and the less you talk to us the better."

Artemis moved around the table as she walked to the front door. "I think you guys should leave. We have school tomorrow and I really need my sleep."

The teens nodded as they started heading out the front door. Alec who was the last one out stopped before he reached the door. He turned back toward Artemis and said, "We won't say anything, I promise." Artemis smiled in thanks as she closed the door after him.

With a sigh she turned to her friends. There was a million thoughts running through her head. But right know all she wanted was to sleep. "We need to keep an eye on them."

"You think they're working for Theo?" Scott asked from beside Stiles.

"I don't know, but I don't trust them. What I do know is that we have to keep a better eye on them and especially keep them out of the supernatural."

Artemis paused as she glanced between the two males. "How will we do that when the beast is killing more people then we can save."

"We have to, Art." Stiles replied. "They're hiding something and I'm going to get to the bottom of this."
