chapter thirty-two | the new york institute
All Artemis wanted was to sleep in. The past couple days have kept her from getting a good night's rest because the pack had to deal with the Beast. But now that the blonde wasn't in Beacon Hills it's only far for her to sleep in. And she would have, if it weren't for Alec Lightwood's little sister.
"They look so cute together."
"Izzy, shut up you're going to wake them up."
Too late. Artemis thought to herself. But she didn't open her eyes yet. Instead she snuggled closer to the warm body next to her. That move alone made the person tighten their arms around her waist.
That's when Artemis decided to open her eyes. When she did she saw Izzy, Clary, and Jace in front of her.
"What are you guys doing." Asked a very sleepy Artemis.
"Just watching you and my brother sleep." Izzy replied with a smile.
The blondes eyebrows knitted together. "What?" When she turned she noticed the way half her body was on top of Alec. Alec didn't seem to notice or care at the moment because he was still asleep. How he was still asleep the blonde didn't know. But she wasn't going to wait to find out.
Artemis stood up so fast that she ended up hitting Izzy and the sudden pull woke the sleeping Lightwood.
"What happened?!" Alec asked as he rubbed his eyes.
Izzy was smiling through her pain. "Nothing, my dear brother, but we're home."

At first Artemis didn't know what to think. I mean yes she's always wanted to come to New York, but she always hoped she'd vist with her family. The blonde sighed as she remembered her pack. It wasn't until this moment that Artemis realized just how much she missed them.
By now she was standing in front of an old building. Which she guessed was were the Shadowhunters lived.
"Come on." Alec said as he pulled her arm. As she walked in behind Alec she saw how nice the place actually looked from the inside.
"Look who finally showed up." A voice spoke from down the hall. When Artemis turned she saw a blonde women standing in front of them.
"Lydia." Jace replied. "We have the cup." Hearing that name made Artemis think about her best friend. Jace handed the cup to the blonde before walking away with her. Izzy and Alec were right behind them but Clary stayed back.
"Artemis?" Clary asked.
The blonde hadn't realized that she was looking at the floor. "Yeah?"
"I want to show you something. Will you come with me?"
Artemis paused before she nodded her head. Clary smiled towards her blonde sister before grabbing her arm and taking her to the infirmary.
Once they reached the room Artemis saw a women floating in the air. A green shield was around her and Artemis couldn't help but think that the women was dead. You can't blame her though the women did look dead.
"Who is that?" The blonde asked.
Clary took a step forward before replying. "She's our mother."
Artemis stood back shocked. "What happened to her?"
"She took a sleeping drink to keep us and the cup safe."
"Clary?" A new voice spoke from behind Artemis.
"Luke!" Clary said happily as she ran to give the man a hug.
They spoke for a moment, but the blonde didn't listen. The only thing that had her attention was the sight of her biological mother.
"Maire?" The man, Luke asked.
"Excuse me?" Artemis asked as she turned around.
A big smile covered the man's face. "It is you." Luke walked up to her before pulling her into a hug. "I would know those blue eyes anywhere."
Artemis pulled back instantly. "I'm sorry, do I know you?"
"Of course not. You were just a baby the last time I saw you." But that didn't stop him from smiling. "I'm glad your sister found you. You're mom will be so happy when she wakes up."
Artemis just smiled but didn't say anything.
