chapter ten | a plan to save a friend

The next morning the pack had gathered at Scott's house so they could come up with s plan to save Lydia. The pack members were standing around the dining table. A laptop was placed on top while Stiles explained the steps everyone had to follow.

"There's four steps." Stiles said to his friends. "We get into Eichen, we get into the Closed Unit, we get Lydia, get out." Artemis had a feeling this plan was easy said than done. But this was Lydia, her best friend so Artemis was going to do everything she could to get Lydia back.

"And we have to do it all while getting past orderlies, guards, electric door locks, and a Mountain Ash barrier." Scott cut in as he glanced at his sister. Artemis was busy with her gaze locked on the laptop to realize her brother was staring at her.

"You have a plan for all of that?" Malia asked the boys in front of her. Artemis looked up once she heard the doubt in Malia's voice.

As a way of answering Malia, Stiles held up a key card. "I stole this last night off an orderly. But it's useless 'cause they reset the codes each night."

"So why did you take it?" Kira spoke up while Artemis rolled her eyes. Artemis might love her pack to death, but right know all she cared about was getting Lydia back.

"He's getting to that." Artemis finally cut in as she nodded towards Scott to continue.

"The only way to get Lydia out of Eichen is to make the key card work again." Scott replied.

"How are you going to do that?" asked Liam.

"There getting to that, now all of you shut up." Artemis snapped. The pack quickly shut their mouths. There was no point in arguing with Artemis. Especially when Lydia's life was on the line. A moment passed before Stiles leaned forward and tuned on his computer. After it turned on he faced it toward the rest of the pack so they could see the screen.

"I pulled all the history off the key card. Two weeks ago, there was a brownout and the security system rebooted. During a reboot all of the key cards revert back to a default code. So, if we trigger a reboot..."

"The card goes back to the default code. It works again." Liam finished.

"How are we going to cause a brownout?"

"That's your part." The blonde told Kira as she turned to look at her. "You are going to draw power from the main line. But you're only getting enough to cause a brownout."

"Not a black out." Stiles cut in. "Do that and you send Eichen into lockdown which would be bad. Very very bad."

"There's an electric room behind the reception counter." Scott said as he pointed to the map, which was beside the laptop on the table. "The main power line goes into two breakers that run power to all of Eichen."

"Okay, slight problem." Kira sighed as she glanced around the pack members. "I don't know how to do that."

"That's okay. You have time to practice." At that point Artemis had stopped listening and just stared at the blue prints on the table. She already knew the plan so all she had to do was make sure she knew her part. If everything went right like she hoped it would than she'll have her best friend back in no time.

When Scott mention her name again she looked up to listen. "Liam, you and I get Stiles and Artemis to the gate of the Closed Unit. But after that, they have to go on there own. We can't get past the Mountain Ash barrier. And when were gone, all anyone's going to think is that there was a reboot of the security system caused by a brownout."

"Any questions?" Artemis asked as Scott finished his sentence. Artemis was hoping there wouldn't be any. Honestly all she wanted to do was to start the plan but sadly the rest of the pack did have questions. At that moment Malia, Kira and Liam started asking questions.

"Okay, admittedly a lot could go wrong." Stiles cut in through the questioning teens.

"Everything could go wrong." Liam added while casting a quick glance toward Artemis. He was hoping his comment wouldn't get to her, but it did. Artemis knew there was a lot on the line, but this was Lydia. She's part of the pack so she deserves to be saved.

"Guys," Artemis spoke up as she glanced around the table. The five pack members turned there heads to look at her. "if we don't do this, we lose my best friend..."

Scott nodded in agreement as he wrapped his arm around his sister's shoulder. "Artemis is right. Lydia's going to die in there tonight. And she might take a lot of innocent people with her." Scott added.

Thankfully both their comments were enough to convince the rest of the pack to join the fight.
