chapter seven | a loving pain
After everything that happened in the tunnels Artemis was beyond happy to be home. Once she made it inside her room her phone went off. As she pulled it out of her pocket the blonde realized Clary Fray had messaged her.
The first thing the blonde thought as she read the message was, How the hell did Clary Fray get my number? From: Unknown
To: Artemis

To: Artemis
We don't have to hang out now, maybe tomorrow? At that moment Artemis heard the front door open. Deciding to see if it was her mom Artemis walked out of her room and back downstairs. Once she made it down Artemis saw Scott walk in followed by Stiles, Liam, Kira and Malia.
With a sigh Artemis looked back down to her phone and wrote,
To: Clary Fray
From: Artemis
We'll see. With that Artemis placed her phone back in her pocket. The pack was all gathered around the table as she walked towards them her. Her gaze was fixed on Liam as he placed a map of the Eichen security log on the table.
With one look at the papers on the table Artemis knew they were going to get Lydia out of Eichen. The blonde honestly couldn't be happier because she was finally getting her best friend back.
"Now we get Lydia."

It was late at night when Artemis heard the rapped knocking on her bedroom door. The blonde turned in her sleep as she yelled out, "What do you want, McCall?!"
"Artemis!" Scott called from the other side. "Stiles called! He said the beast is out on the streets again."
Artemis rubbed the sleep out of her eyes as she stood up and mumbled, "I hate you so much Stilinski." On the way out of her room Artemis grabbed her favorite hoodie. She also decided to stay in her pjs' and just throw her hoodie on because knowing Stiles, he wouldn't want to wait for her.
Right when she opened the door she saw Scott walk down the hall. Artemis followed after him as Stiles pulled up in his jeep.
One of his hands were on the wheel while Artemis walked out the front door. As she neared the jeep Stiles said, "Look who's awake and looking beautiful as always."
Artemis rolled her eyes at him as she climbed into the jeep. "Shut it, Stilinski! I would be in bed right now if it wasn't for your stupid call."
Stiles smiled slightly at her in annoyance. "So nice to see that you care about our little town, Art." Stiles paused as his gaze landed on the hoodie she'd chosen. "I see you're wearing Lahey's lacrosse hoodie again."
Artemis moved the seat belt from around her chest as she pulled out her phone. When the light turned on she saw that she did in fact have Isaac's lacrosse hoodie on. Artemis sighed because she knew that the boys in front of her were going to question her about it.
"I thought you said you were getting over him?" Scott asked his sister as he gazed at her from the front.
"I am." Artemis argued as she dropped her phone on her lap. Stiles drove down the street as he thought over what to say next.
He looked back at Artemis through the mirror. "Then why are you wearing his hoodie?" Stiles asked even though he already knew the answer.
"Because I--" Artemis paused as she looked at Scott. There was no point in lying because he would know. "I'm trying to, okay?"
Scott looked at her sadly. "Artemis, it's been a year since you two broke up. Don't you think it's time to get back out there?"
"How do you do that?" The blonde asked sadly as she looked down at her hoodie. "I mean after loving that person so much... You even fell like you two were going to grow up together, get married and have kids. How do you move on when you already found the person for you?"
The boys stayed silent after hearing Artemis speak. They knew this wasn't easy for her, talking about Isaac that is. I mean sure she would talk to him from time to time and her friends would mention him, but that never bothered her. What bothers her is when you really talk about what happened.
Both boys know how much Isaac meant to her. After all Isaac was the only boy that Artemis ever let in, in a romantic way of course. Before Isaac Artemis had never experienced love. But when Isaac showed up he changed everything. Isaac had broken down the walls that Artemis had build up. At the same time he was the one to brake her heart into a million pieces.
"Artemis," Scott said sadly as he reached to grab her hand. "I know it hurts, believe me I do. But you will move on. Maybe you're not ready now, but you will be soon enough." The blonde smiled sadly at him as she heard Stiles turn on the police radio.
"Unit Five heading northwest on Crescent reporting an incredibly large... Something." Just like that there conversation was over and Artemis was thankful.
"Unit Nine, to Dispatch, I think I've got eyes on the same thing. Some kind of rabid animal." A different voice spoke through the radio.
"Unit Five to Nine, trust me, that's no animal." The woman from earlier replied.
Stiles started to speed up as he grabbed the radio. "All units stay back. Do not engage. I repeat, do not engage."
That's when Mr. Stilinski's voice spoke out. "Stiles, get off the radio." As soon as Stiles placed the radio back Mr. Stilinski said, "All unit alert. Wait for back-up. Repeat, no one goes near this thing."
Artemis stopped listening when she felt her phone buzz. The blonde grabbed it from her pocket and saw that she had a missed call from Isaac. Artemis sighed at this but didn't let it get to her. She placed her phone back in her pocket and turned back to her friends.
"Wait a second?" Stiles paused as he reliezed something. "Beachwood to Michaell?" That's when Artemis reliezed what he was thinking. The beast was heading toward the hospital.
"It's headed back to the hospital." Scott spoke her thoughts as the blonde sat forward in her seat. With one tug on her seat belt Artemis reached up and grabbed the radio. "Mr. Stilinski..."
"Artemis, oh no, not you too. Get off this channel."
"Mr. Stilinski you have to listen to us, okay? It's headed for the hospital. He's headed for Beacon Memorial."
Stiles grabbed the radio from Artemis's hand as she leaned back. "Did you hear her, Dad? It's headed for the hospital." With that Stiles placed the radio back and pressed on the gas.
