chapter twenty-seven | the non-existent couple's therapy
"I've got his scent." Was the first thing the blonde heard come out of his mouth. Artemis was too shocked to move or reply and Alec couldn't help buy worry about her.
Isaac on the other hand was beyond happy to see Artemis alive. But he couldn't help but feel an awkward tension in the air. "Hey Art."
"Isaac." The blonde whispered out. Artemis couldn't help but blink a couple times just to make sure her eyes were working properly. "What are you doing here?"
It's not like she wasn't happy to see him, she was. But after what happened with Alec Artemis just wanted some time to think about what it meant. Not to mention her break down made Artemis realize that she hasn't forgiven him. Now that Isaac was back the blonde couldn't help but feel that things were going to be awkward between them.
"He's back up." Liam replied once he noticed Isaac couldn't find the words to reply. "I was about to tell you he was back, but I didn't get the chance."
Malia rolled her eyes at the awkward ex couple. "We don't have time for couples therapy. We need to find Scott. Where is he?"
Isaac broke the gaze he held with the blonde as he replied back. "He's in the library."
Just like that they all ran to the library, but not before the beta saw the blonde hold hands with a boy with jet black hair.
Once they reached the library the blonde saw the Beast next to the staircase. Suddenly the younger beta ran towards the Beast and hit it on the side of his face.
In that moment Braeden started shooting the Beast. Artemis let go of Alec's hand as she pulled out her blade. By now both Malia and Isaac were showing their bright eyes and their claws.
The Shadowhunters on the other hand didn't know what to do. They didn't even know what could kill this thing so they decided to stay back and let Artemis and her friends take care of it. Alec wasn't thinking like his friends though. All he was thinking was to keep Artemis safe. That's why he started walking up next to her.
Before they knew it the Beast had ran out the window. Artemis sighed as she placed her blades back in her boots. When Artemis noticed her brother was laying on the floor by Liam at the base of the staircase, she decided to run up to them.
Artemis helped Scott stand and soon after wrapped her arms around him. "I'm so happy you're okay."
Scott smiled as he held on to her tightly. He was beyond happy to see his sister was safe. "And thank God you made it out safely."
The moment was soon interrupted.
"You didn't seriously think you were gonna have a chance against that thing, did you?" Braeden cut in as the rest of the pack walked over to them.
"No." The alpha replied as he and Artemis let go of each other. "But I got its scent."

By this time Scott, Liam, and Isaac went to search for the beast. While Malia and Braeden left who knows where. The blonde on the other hand was with the Shadowhunters. She was finally explaining everything about the supernatural world she's involved in.
"So that Beast is what's killing people?" Jace asked as soon as Artemis stopped talking.
"Yes. We knew the Beast was going to show up tonight, so we made a plan to cancel the game. Obviously as you can see that didn't work out."
"Wow.." Clary paused. "Your town is darker then we thought."
"You have no idea." Artemis whispered with a shake of her head.
"Anyways know that we covered that. I wanted to ask, do you have the cards?" Alec hoped that by bringing up the cup he could forget about her ex being back. Even if it was just for a moment.
"I don't have them with me." The blonde replied honestly.
"Where are they?" Jace asked.
"My best friend has them. I need to ask her to give them back to me." Before any of the Shadowhunters could ask anything else the blonde's phone rang.
The name Blue Eyes Beta was covering the screen. For a moment Artemis thought Liam was calling her, but than she remembered that wasn't his contact name. Liam's contact name was Baby Beta. Which meant Isaac was calling her.
With a sigh Artemis picked up the phone. She didn't even get a chance to say anything because Isaac started talking as soon as she answered.
"Artemis we know who the Beast is."
Artemis didn't let the awkwardness she felt get to her because all she wanted to know was who the beast was.
"Who is it?"
"It's Mason and the bad news is that Corey took him."
