chapter twenty-six | The return of an old friend
Not even a moment later the blonde was pushed back when another blonde girl fell on her. Alec was the first one who ran towards Artemis and helped her back up. As soon as Artemis saw Scott close the door a smile covered her face. Her smile soon fell when she saw the blood running down his head.
"Scott what happened to you?!"
Scott looked up at the blonde in confusion. "Artemis? What are you doing here? I thought you were supposed to be checking everyone's shoes."
"I know but they," Artemis pointed to the Shadowhunters that where behind her, "pulled me away so they could talk to me. But that doesn't matter. What's going on out there."
"The plan didn't work.." The alpha paused when he saw the worry in the blondes face. "The Beast is here." Scott moved his head up so he could take a look through the little mirror that was on the door.
"What's going on?" A very confused Lightwood boy asked. His friends had the same confused look on there faces but the blonde didn't have time to explain.
Scott looked back down and noticed the human girl on the floor. Suddenly the Beast banged on the door and next they all heard roar. "Go. Go out the window! Go!" Scott yelled as the girl ran out the window.
The Shadowhunters were close behind but Alec stopped when he realized Artemis wasn't following. "Artemis go with them!" Scott yelled as he tried to keep the door closed.
"Artemis you can't stay!" Alec yelled as he grabbed her arm.
"No!" The blonde yelled. "I won't leave him!"
"Artemis please!" Scott pleaded. "Go I won't let you get hurt."
Artemis watched Scott sadly as Alec pulled her away. The blonde was yelling and begging Alec to let her go but he didn't. The last thing Artemis saw before she disappeared through the window was Scott being taken away by the Beast.
That's when her heart broke again.

"Artemis want to explain to us what's going on in your weird little town?" Jace asked as they stopped outside the school double doors.
Artemis was too busy looking around for any sign of her friends to reply.
"Artemis.." Alec paused as he stood in front of her. He tried getting her attention by grabbing her arm.
She stopped suddenly and looked up at him while letting out a sigh. "What?" The blonde whispered sadly.
"If you don't tell us what's going on then we can't help you."
"My brother's right, Artemis." Izzy said as she walked up to them. "If you want to help your friends you need to tell us what's going on."
Artemis nodded while moving her gaze from Izzy to Alec. "Okay but I don't have time to explain everything. All I have to say is that you guys aren't the only ones involved with the supernatural."
"That thing your friend called the Beast. What is it?" Clary asked as she walked towards her sister.
"It's a Werewolf." The blonde replied.
"There's downworlders in this town too?" Asked Jace with an eye roll.
"Don't call them that and there isn't just Werewolves in my town. There's also Banshees, Were-coyotes, Kitsunes, and many more."
"Well now that that's clear," Clary paused. "What can we help you in?"
"I just want you guys to help me find my friends. I need to make sure they stay safe."
"First tell us about the cup." Jace said.
Artemis rolled here eyes. "I will. I promise I'll tell you guys everything. But please I can't lose my family."
Alec's eyes watched the blonde sadly because he knew Artemis would do anything for her friends. That meant she would die for them and the last thing Alec wanted was for her to die.

Artemis found Malia, Braeden, and Liam as she and the Shadowhunters where out looking for Scott.
"Artemis where have you been?" Malia asked as she handed the blonde her blades.
"It's a long story." The blonde replied as she placed one of her blades in her boot while the other was tightly in her hand. "Do you guys know where Scott is?"
"No but- -" Liam was cut off by a new voice that rang out into the dark night.
It was a voice Artemis knew too well. It was the voice of her first love. It was the voice of Isaac Lahey.
