Chapter 45.2: The Date

As expected, Nia arrived ten minutes after she hung up on me. I used that time to take a quick bath and change in to a baby blue dress that almost  reached my knees. Kuya Josh was still in the living room and I'm certain he cleaned up the mess down the whole area because Nia didn't act worried when she came walking in my room earier.

I wonder how he did it.

Nia didn't look happy when she came in my room and found me struggling to comb my hair. She also didn't say hi or hello to me but instead, she made me sit on the seat in front of my study table. Then she reprimanded me about the whole 'forgetting the date' thing while putting on a slight make up on my face then blow drying my hair so she could make a high bun out of it.

After almost ten minutes, she looked at me and a smile crept down her face. "Now that's what we call beauty." she said, mostly talking to herself.

She handed me a round mirror and I took it to check what she has done. I lifted it up on my face and stared in awe as the girl in the mirror looked like a stranger to me. How did she manage to make me this pretty? I don't even know she has a thing for make-ups.

Three knocks on my door were enough to turn our attentions to the doorway. Kuya Josh stood there, leaning at the now open door with his arms crossed over his chest.

"Sorry to interrupt girls but Sassy's guy just arrived." he said, grinning at me.

I know he was teasing me by how he just sounded. I felt so embarassed that Kuya Josh get to witness me go out with a guy. This was a whole new thing to me and it was my first time going on a date. Since I forgot all about it, everything was in a rush that I didn't get the chance to explain everything to Kuya Josh. Ugh.

I just want to back out and...

"Perfect!" Nia exclaimed excitedly and she took my hands in her own. "Now, hurry and meet your prince!" she pulled me out of the chair and handed me the white pouch that matches my dress.

I guess there's no way I could back out now.

"Before that happens, can I have a word with you?" Kuya Josh asked, which made Nia and I to look at him at the same time.

I wonder what this is all about.

Despite the confusion, I nodded and turnedto Nia.

I smiled at her and pulled her into a hug. "Tell Trace I'm coming down after this." I said which she responded with a nod.

"Thanks, Nia." I said and I could feel her tapping my back.

"Don't mention it." she replied, pulling away from the hug.

She let go of my hands and started to walk towards the doorway. I watched her leave until she was out of the door.

Kuya Josh closed the door behind him and I can tell by the expression on his face that this conversation would be a serious one.

"She doesn't know?" he asked, reffering to Nia.

I watched him as he strolled towards the edge of my bed and sat there.

I sighed. "I've been keeping all of this from her ever since it started." I confessed, massaging my temples.

He studied me for a moment, leaning forward and clasping both his hands in front of him.

"It's better to keep it that way, princess. The less she knows, the safer she will be." he said, matter-of-factly.

"I know." I admitted, thinking about my bestfriend.
