Chapter 14: The Black Hole

Our day in Happy Hours might have started a bit bad but it ended great. Gaya ng palaging scenario sa shop ay bumuhos ang costumers pagpatak ng alas dose y medya ng tanghali. Karamihan sa mga naging costumers namin ngayong araw ay mga bata at teenagers kaya nagenjoy kaming pagsilbihan sila. Uncle Phil came out of his office to help us with the orders and few minutes after that, Phoebe came and helped too.. Mukha namang kinikilig ang mga costumers kapag nakikita yung dalawa kaya mas lalo kaming ginaganahang magtrabaho. When the clock ticked at exactly 6 pm, we started to clean up for the closing.

"Nice job, girls!" bati sa amin ng nakangiting si Uncle Phil. He leaned on the counter kung saan kami nakatayo ni Nia at nagliligpit ng aming mga gamit. We both smiled at him.

"Thanks, Uncle Phil." sabi ko while removing my hair net.. Tinanggal ko rin yung ponytail ko sending my long brown hair down to my shoulders. Nia did the same and we both look at each other and we laughed.

Uncle Phil shook his head and looked at us with a smile on his face.

"Girls, the ice creams are on the fridge. Go get some and take it home para mahimasmasan kayo sa kalokohan niyong yan." naiiling pa ring sabi ni Uncle Phil.

Bigla namang dumating si Ate Phoebe na may dalang dalawang medium size box. "No need Phil. I got them over here." nakangiting pagbabalita i ni ate Phoebe. Nia and I both threw our hands up out of happiness.

"Yehey! Thank you Ate Phoebe!" we said in unison.

We gave them both a hug and we bid goodbye. We got out of the shop with the box in our hands. Since nasa tapat lang ng main road ang shop ay mabilis kaming nakasakay ng taxi ni Nia.

Once we got on the taxi, told the driver the direction and we started moving, Nia started talking.

"So, what's your plan for tonight?" tanong niya sa akin.

I shrug. "Look after Motchi, eat dinner and sleep. I guess?" simpleng sagot ko.

Nia eyed me suspiciously. "That's all?" she asked habang nakataas ang isang kilay.

I tried to give her my coolest look as I nodded. "That's all it will ever be." sagot ko.

Fortunately, Nia didn't press on and the subject was dropped. I felt quite relieved but I'm starting to feel guilty for not even telling her my real plan tonight, the plan of going to Black Hole alone. I know I'm being unfair but I can't just tell her to come with me because knowing Nia, she'll absolutely go once she knew about my plan.

Speaking of plans, I don't really think I have a well fabricated plan about the Black Hole thing. All I have in mind is to get there safe, get answers and go home all in one piece. And of course, I need to be extra careful about sneaking out tonight. I don't want Shone to catch me on an act of sudden departure. Siya na ang nagsabing iwasan ko si Crozen pero hindi ko ata muna magagawa iyon sa ngayon because I need answers and since Shone can't or won't give any extraterrestrial information, my only choice is to make Crozen talk so I can get answers. I'm hoping it'll be easy but knowing Crozen, I'm betting it'll be hard.

Twenty minutes later, I found myself fishing out my key to our front door. I slid it in and I heard a soft "click" then I turned the door knob. I went in and locked the door again. Once inside, I surveyed the house. The light was turned on and everything looked clean. Then I smell something that made my stomach crumble. The smell of food made me realize how hungry I am. Pero sino ang nagluluto? Imposible nanang si Shone eh hindi naman siya marunong. Mas imposible ring si Motchi.

Since walang tao sa sala, I slowly made my way to the kitchen. Hindi pa man ako nakakaabot eh may narinig akong naguusap so I stopped.

"You sure she'll like this?" boses ni Shone iyon at halata mong nagaalangan siya.
