Bringing Thomas Home

EMILYS P.O.V

"Be quiet for mummy please?" I asked Thomas bouncing his up and down in my arms.

He continued to scream until I laid him up against my chest.

"Is that batter honey," I asked rubbing his back.

He let out a small whimper and I kissed his forehead as he calmed down.

"Shhh, now go to sleep baby," I said closing my eyes. "Mummy is."

DANIELS P.O.V

Once again i walked into the room to see Thomas sleeping on Emilys chest. I put down my coffee and picked him up gently, being careful not to wake him.

"Shhh baby," I said as he stirred in my arms.

He closed his eyes again and I laid him down in the plastic cot to sleep.

"I can't believe you're here," I said to him. "We've waited so long for you."

The door opened and my mother walked in followed by my father.

"Daniel!" She said excitedly kissing my cheek.

"Your a father!" My dad said laughing.

"I know it's amazing," I said turning back to look at Thomas.

"He looks like you," dad said.

"Everyone keeps saying that," I said with a smile across my face.

"Daniel," Emily whispered from the bed.

"I'm sorry Hun, we didn't mean to wake you," I said moving over to her.

"May I?" My mother asked walking over to Thomas.

I looked at Emily straight away but she nodded without hesitation.

She gently picked him up and cradled him in her arms.

"Congratulations Emily," she said turning to her.

"Thank you," Emily said smiling.

He opened his eyes and key out a small cry.

"It's alright baby," Victoria said rocking him gently.

She didn't succeed in calming him down and his loud cries soon filled the room.

"He will be hungry," Emily said sitting up against the pillow and undoing her top.

My mother handed her the baby gently and he stopped crying the moment he got what he wanted.

"That's better," Emily said exhaling deeply.

"When can you take him home?" Conrad asked.

"Tomorrow," I said smiling.

"That's wonderful darling," mum said.

"It's amazing," Emily said.

Our conversation was interrupted by the young nurse.

"Visiting hours are over now, you need to leave," she told my parents.

"I'll see you soon," I said standing up.

"Dinner tomorrow night?" My mother asked.

"Em are you ok with that?" I asked.

She nodded her head before looking back at Thomas.

"Tomorrow sounds good, see you then," I said smiling.

"Bye."

I sat down next to Emily as the nurse walked up.

"Have you ever changed a nappy before?" She asked.

Both of us shook our heads.

"I'll show you," she said taking Thomas from Emilys arms and laying him on the bed.

After she had changed the nappy she placed him in my arms. He fell back to sleep and I placed him before snuggling down next to Emily and falling asleep.

-------------------THE FOLLOWING MORNING---------------

EMILYS P.O.V

"Shhh," I said gently rubbing Thomas' stomach to try settle him down.

He was in the capsule attached to the pram and Daniel was just getting everything together.

"This is everything," Daniel said walking out of the bathroom.

"Let's go," I said taking the brake off the stroller.

Daniel held the door open and I pushed him out slowly.

"This is, we are going home," I said as I walked out the exit doors.

"We can be a family," Daniel said smiling.

"That sounds perfect," I said.

We walked to the car and I unhooked the capsule from the stroller. I gently opened the door of the car and hooked the capsule into its' base.

I sat down next to the seat and kissed Thomas forehead as Daniel started the car.

"Let's go," Daniel said driving out of the car park.

A few minutes later we pulled up out the front of the house.

"Home sweet home," I said getting out of the car and unhooking the capsule.

"We need to go to mums in an hour," Daniel reminded me.

"Oh yeah, I forgot about dinner," I confessed.

"So did I, until mum messaged me making sure I didn't forget," he said.

"Ok, I might give him a bath and then we can go," I said walking into the house.

"Are you sure?" Daniel asked.

"Yeah, if I out him to sleep now hopefully he might stay that way," I said smiling.

"Alright baby."

-------------1 HOUR LATER--------------

VICTORIAS P.O.V

I opened the door to see Daniel and Emily. The baby was fast asleep in Emilys arms and Daniel was pushing the stroller.

"Coming in," I said moving aside.

"Thank you Victoria," Emily said hurriedly walking past me.

We walked into the dining room and Daniel sat the pram against the wall. I looked over at Emily who had her back to me; laying Thomas down.

"Shhh," she said as he stirred awake. "It's ok honey."

He calmed instantly and was back to sleep in seconds. She walked over and joined Daniel and I at the table.

DANIELS P.O.V

Once dinner was finished I helped Emily move the baby back to the car and once we arrived home placed him gently in the bassinet.

"I love you darling," I said stroking his cheek.

"He loves you to," Emily said from her spot on the bed.

"You are exhausted," I said laying down next to her.

"We shouldn't have gone to your mums," she said closing her eyes.

"Let's go to sleep," I said wrapping my arms around her.

"I love you," she said.
