THE FOLLOWING DAY

DANIELS P.O.V

"Em, you need to wake up," I said rubbing her cheek lightly. "Emi, nans waiting to go shopping."

Her eyes fluttered over and her face went pale.

"I am going to be sick," she said pushing the covers off her body.
"It's ok," I said following her to the bathroom where she was sick again.

Once she was standing up I moved my arm around her back and guided her to the bedroom.

"I'll go tell nan that you don't feel well and you can go shopping another time," I said helping her into bed.
"No!" she said sitting up. "I wanted to go today!"
"Em you can barley move you are so sick," I said stroking her forehead.
"I still want to go," he said pushing my hand away and standing up.

The color left her face again and she looked like she was about to throw up.

"Lay down," I said helping her back into the bed. "you can go shopping another day."
"Ok," she said closing her eyes.
"I'm coming back, I'm just going to talk to nan," I said.

She nodded but didn't move and I made my way out to the kitchen.

"Sorry nan, she's not well. would you mind shopping another day?" I asked.
"That's no problem. Can I get Emily anything?"
"No, she's fine for the moment. I might go try and get her to sleep, but thank you," I said giving her a small smile.

I walked back into the bedroom to see Emily's face red. I put my hand on her forehead and worried when it felt sweaty and clammy.

"Nan?" I called out.
"Yes Danny," she said walking into the room.
"Can you come look at Em?" I asked.

She moved over to the side of the bed and touched Emily's forehead.

"She might be coming down with a fever," nan said looking at me.
"It won't hurt the baby though? will it?" i asked.
"Give me a moment," she said walking out of the room.

She returned a minute later holding a damp cloth in her hand.

"Lay here with her for a while and keep this in her forehead," she said handing it to me.
"Thank you nan," I said sitting down on the bed.
"It's no problem Danny," she said smiling.

She left the room and I laid down next to Emily; holding the cloth to her forehead like nan said. she stirred awake to the cold and looked me in the eyes.

"It's alright honey," I said stroking her forehead.
"My head hurts, she said moving onto my chest.
"Do you want to go back to sleep?"

She nodded and closed her eyes, until she fell back into a deep sleep.

I walked out into the living room to let her sleep peacefully.

"Is she ok?" my nan asked.
"She has a headache and just wants to sleep. sorry about shopping," I said.
"Honestly, we can go another day. it's not nice being sick," she said.
"Thank you for being so understanding," I said smiling.
"It's fine, I was exactly the same when I was pregnant and I know it feels horrible. anyway! Are you exited?!" she asked.
"I cannot wait!" I said.

Just then pops walked in.

"Daniel! I was wondering if you wanted to come get a Christmas tree from the farm today?" he asked.
"I would love to. are you ok with Em?" I asked nan.
"We will be fine! go and pick a nice tree!" she said.

We set off out to the farm and picked a fresh tall tree, and I knew nan would love it.

"Ready to head back?" Pops asked.
"Yeah, I should get bak and make sure Ems is ok," I said.

We got in the car and drive back to the little house. Once I had gone inside and made sure Emily was still sleeping; I went back out to help pops in the garden.

"Is she ok?" Pops asked when I walked out.
"Still sleeping," I said grabbing a plant off him and placing it in a hole in the ground.

..................................

2 HOURS LATER

"Daniel!" my nan called. "I need you inside!"
"Coming," I yelled putting down the plant.

I walked into the lounge but no one was there.

"Where are you?" I called out.
"With Emily!" She replied.

I made my way to the bedroom to see that Emily had thrown up all over herself and the sheets.

"I'm sorry," she said as tears welled up in her eyes.
"It's ok baby," I said moving over to her and wiping the tears off her cheek. "It's not your fault."

Her forehead was still pink and sweaty.

"Let's get you cleaned up," I said walking over and getting a new set of clothes.

I helped her take off her top and pants and helped her put on some new clothes. By the time we had finished nan had taken the sheets of the bed and put on new ones.

"Come here," I said laying down next to her so she could lean into my chest.
"Can I get you anything love?" Nan asked.
"A glass of water, if that's ok," Emily said.
"I'll be back in a moment," she said leaving the two of us in the room.

"I'm going to call the doctor," I said stroking her forehead.
"Ok," she said.

Nan walked back in with a glass of water.

"What is the number of the local doctors nan?" I asked.
"Ahhh...... 9870 6347," she said.
"Thanks you," I said called out as she left the room.

I got out my phone and put in the number; 9870 6347.

It ran for about 10 seconds before someone picked up.

"Green port Medical Centre, Ashley speaking; how can I help you?" The young women's voice rang through the phone.
"Ah, Hi Ashley, my names Daniel and I was just wondering if I could get an appointment ASAP for my fiancée?" I asked.
"We have a spot in an hour? Does that suite?" She asked.
"Yes that will be perfect," I said looking down at Emily and pushing the hair out of her face.
"Can I ask your fiancées name, and why she needs to see a doctor please?" Ashley asked.
"Yes, her name is Emily Thorne. She is currently 16 weeks pregnant and we think she met have come down with the flu," I said.
"Thank you Daniel, I'll see you in a hour," she said.
"Thanks, bye," I said hanging up the phone.

I turned to Emily.

"Appointment in an hour," I said."
"Stay with me," she said.

I knives my body slightly so she could lay down. I pressed the cloth to her forehead once again and watched her fall asleep.
