DANIELS P.O.V

As we pulled up in front if the emergency department, I got out of the car and walked around to Emily.

"Can you walk?" I asked her.

She nodded and with my help got up and out of the car. She had tears streaming down her face.

"W-What I-if th-ere I-is something w-wrong with th-the b-baby?" She asked cuddling into my chest.

"Everything is going to be fine," I said hugging her tightly. "Are you in pain?"

She shook her head.

"I'm just worried about the baby," she said grabbing my hand.

We walked into the hospital with her body up against mine and I walked up to the reception.

"What happened?" She asked turning to Em.

"I went flying forward into the corner of a cabniet."

She lifted up her top to reveal the purple bruise that has already begun forming.

"Will the baby be ok?" She asked moving back so she was nestled in my chest.

"Hopefully!" The nurse said giving her a small smile. "Go into that room over there and a doctor will be with you shortly," she said pointing to a room.

We walked into the room and I sat down next to Em who had laid down on the bed.

"Everything is going to be fine," I said squeezing her hand.

"I hope so," she said giving me a small smile.

The door opened and a young women in her 20's walked in.

"Let's take a look at your baby and make sure everything's alright," she said with a bright smile trying to cheer Em up.

She let go of my hand to roll up her top but retook it as the nurse put the gel on he stomach and began moving the wand around.

"Is everything ok?" I asked looking away from Em.

"I um, I might go get a doctor," she said standing up quickly. "Excuse me."

She walked out of the room and my eyes locked with Emilys.

"The heartbeat," she said panicking. "Why didn't we hear the heartbeat?"

She was panicking now.

"Calm down," I said. "Maybe the sound wasn't up enough?"

I knew that she wouldn't believe me but I had to be strong for her. To keep her from panicking.

"Let look at the baby," the doctor said walking in.

The nurse was following behind him and she wasn't smiling like before. The doctor reapplied the gel over Ems stomach and began to wave to wand again.

"Why is there no heart beat?" Emily said squeezing my hand.

"We are trying to find on," the doctor said giving us a small smile.

The room was filled with the static sound but no heart beat was heard.

"I'm sorry," the doctor said looking at us. "I think the baby is gone."

My eyes looked straight at Em and she closed her eyes holding back the tears.

"How can it just be gone?" I yelled standing up.

"If there high impact to the head then they die," the doctor said.

"I AM GOING TO KILL MY MOTHER!" I screamed.

"Mr Grayson, I need you to calm down. I will keep trying to find the heartbeat but I don't think there is one."

"I can't to this!" I said.

I stood up and walked out of the room. I slammed the door shut and sat down on the bench and cried. How could this happen? How could my mother do this to us?

The door opened behind me and the young nurse walked out.

"Mr Grayson, you might want to go into the room," she said.

"Why?" I asked looking up at her.

"Miss Thorne would like to speak with you."

"Daniel!?" I heard Emily call out.

I walked back into the room to see the tears pouring down Emilys face. But something was different to when I left. She had a smile spread across her face. I looked to the doctor who was also smiling.

"Listen," Emily said wiping her eyes.

I was silent and the doctor flicked a switch on the machine. The room was filled with the static sound but was then replaced by a rhythmic beating of the baby's heart.

"Is that the heart beat?" I asked sitting down on the chair.

Em nodded as tears returned to her eyes. I moved my hand to wipe them away.

"Does that means everything's ok?" I asked.

The doctor nodded and turned off the machine, wiping the gel away from Emilys stomach.

"Just go to the next ultrasound and get them to make sure everything is ok, but for now everything is perfect," he said as Em rolled down her top.

"You can leave now," the nurse said.

"Thank you," I said grabbing Emilys hand and helping her stand up.

"Let's go home," she said giving me a small smile.

"Let's."
