NO ONES P.O.V

THE FOLLOWING WEEK

Finally, after 3 hours of walking around the house, Emily finally managed to get her baby to sleep.

It was 3am and Daniel still hadn't arrived home from his 'night out'. She laid the baby gently down in the bassinet and went down stairs to make herself some tea. Moments later Daniel stumbled through the door, drunk as ever.

"Emily!" He yelled in a drunken slurred voice.

"Can you please be quiet?!" She whispered.

"Why?!" He asked even louder.

"Because I have been walking around the house since midnight trying to get Thomas to sleep," she hissed.

"I love you," he said wrapping his arms around her.

"Daniel please, I just want to sleep," she said pushing his arms away.

"Why are you being like this?" He asked her.

"Ok. Daniel, you are drunk. I am tired and I am going to sleep, you should to," she said walking over to the light switch and making the room go dark.

"EMILY WAIT," he called out way to loudly.

"Daniel!" She hissed.

"I LOVE YOU!"

He had no idea how loud he was talking until the house was filled with the piercing cry of the baby.

"Daniel!" Emily yelled walking up the stairs.

"IM SORRY BABY!" He yelled again.

"Daniel will you please shut up!" She hissed taking the baby from the cot and rocking him gently.

"I'm sorry," he said crawling into bed and closing his eyes.

I tear escaped Emilys eye as she walked around for another 3 hours trying to get the baby to settle thanks to Daniel. It wasn't fair. She had worked so hard and then Daniel could just walk in and ruin it, then get to sleep straight away. By time the sun had risen the baby had fallen asleep on her chest and she slept for the most she had in a week.

THE NEXT NIGHT

EMILYS P.O.V

I rolled over again as the baby cried. I seriously put him to sleep 20 minutes ago. I picked him up out of the bassinet and walked around the master bedroom trying to settle him down. Daniel rolled over and looked at me.

"Can you please get him to stop?" He asked.

"What, you don't think I'm trying my best," I said.

"Try harder, I want to go to sleep," he said.

"Excuse me?!"I said looking at him.

"I have work in the morning," he said.

"Daniel thanks to your drunken act last night I didn't sleep till 6am. I haven't slept for longer than 2 hours since the night he was born. You don't think I want to sleep to?" I snapped.

"Well at least you don't have to work," he said.

My patience was short and I couldn't believe what he was saying.

"I spend all day trying to stop him screaming! I don't have time to sleep, or eat or shower. And it's not as if you ever help," I pointed out.

"HOW CAN I?" He yelled sitting up.
