Ria decided to take me to the town, so that I would get more acquainted with the place I was going to call home for maybe 4 years or more. I smiled at her and thanked her for her kind offer. So now here I am, in front of my mirror deciding what outfit would look nice on me. I decide to wear a pink t-shirt and black jeans and tie my hair in a ponytail with a pink band. I clipped my fringes to my sides. I wasn't certainly the type to apply a little bit of lip gloss or apply mascara or eyeliner or pat powder on my cheeks. I wasn't a type of girl who would care a lot about my appearance. I care a bit, not a lot. I am not one of those girls who'd go paranoid if they forgot to apply mascara on their lashes. I just find make up annoying on a daily basis. For some kind of occasion, I don't mind wearing makeup but even then I wear light makeup. My cousins, girlfriends, aunts and my mother too had been frustrated at me because I wouldn't act too firly anywhere. If I could wear a t-shirt and jeans to a wedding I'd be really relieved. Wearing frocks, shalwars or cholis were a bit annoying but I couldn't hide the fact that I looked elegant in them.

"Belle, are you ready?" called out Ria standing at my door.

I turned to look at her. She was wearing a yellow top and blue jeans. her hair was pulled back in a messy pony. I smiled at her "Yes. You look very nice with that. It just fits your sunny personality."

Ria blushed. "Oh really? Thank you so much Belle. Well, I like your outfit too. And also I like the fact that you are not wearing any makeup."

I was stunned to hear that. Nobody had really been glad that I didn't wear makeup most of the time. It was the first time I heard that. "Do you really mean it?" I asked quietly from her.

"Haha. Have people not liked this before? I understand you because I was like you when I was your age. Anyway, not wearing makeup everytime is good. We, females, need not feel so insecure that we decide to expose our body to all sorts of chemical treatments." Ria said.

I smiled at her and took my blue tote which held my pink purse and my Iphone. The blue tote was a present from my best friend, Leena, in India. "Ok, so let's hit the town?" I asked Ria excitedly.

"Come on, kiddo. Off we go!" she high fived me and led the way outside to a red Suzuki Alto.

She opened the passenger door for me and closed it after I had sat down. She sat on the driver's seat and reversed the car towards the lane. I was excited. After all, I had been always wanting to visit America and here I am in New York!!! I took in the city life that bustled around me and enjoyed what I saw from the car windows. Occasionally, Ria smiled at me.

After 20 minutes, we were in town shopping and eating out. I met some girls who were my future classmates at my new school. They were quite nice. I got to know Hayley Summers was actually 4 blocks away from the Johnson's.

Hayley too joined me and Ria on our shopping spree. Hayley had auburn hair that reached below her shoulders and was a few inches taller than me.

"So, tell me all about your life in India." said Hayley when we were eating ice cream.

I told her all about my family, friends and school. Hayley really loved hearing all about the Indian sweets my mum and aunts would make on weekends. Her mouth was practically watering. She also loved hearing about what we wore for weddings. I could safely say she was imagining the Indian wedding which were colourful and glamourous.

"Hey Belle, please make some Indian sweets for me!!! PLEASE!!" begged Hayley and Ria too was looking at me with pleading eyes.

"Ok, I will. This Saturday, I'll make some then." I agreed.

Hayley and Ria gave me a bone crushing hug.

"And also, if you have some cholis, can I just try them out?" asked Hayley pleadingly.

""Alright! Alright!" I laughed.

Settling down seemed easy, thanks to people like Ria, Hayley and Carlo.  Now, I just couldn't wait school to start because I wanted  to know what would it be like in school. I hope it wouldn't be too bad.

Well guys, so here's the 2nd chapter. Since, I won't be explaining all about her holidays, I'll be jumping to her American school life from the next chapter onwards. Keep on reading, keep on commenting and plus do vote if you like this. Do give me your feedback too! =)
