"Oh no!" Anna screeched at the same time we heard someone squeal "Ow!" and books falling on the floor.Michelle, Hayley and I turned to look at the commotion as Anna stood with a hand over her mouth. Adrian and Frannie had bumped on to each other and their books had fallen on the floor. I didn't know whether to laugh or to seem horrified. It was funny the way Frannie looked, completely surprised.
"Sorry." Frannie muttered.
"Wathc where you're going!" Adrian spat out, angrily.
We were stunned for a moment. What was wrong with Adrian?
Frannie quickly concealed her shock. "Um, I am sorry but it wasn't done intentionally."
Adrian scowled at her "What did you take me for? An idiot?"
"Uh yes." Frannie spoke too quickly.
We all rolled our eyes and swore under our breath.
Adrian who had bent down to pick his books, paused midway in his action and straightened back up quickly "What?"
Frannie swallowed thickly as she realized her mistake "Err- I mean no I don't take you for an idiot. I just thought you-"
She was cut off rudely by Adrian "It doesn't matter to me what you think and what you don't. Please keep your opinions to yourself."
We were stunned once again but Frannie flushed red and she was seething. "Excuse me, but what is your problem? We just bumped on to each other and you are trying to bite my head off."
Adrian's eyes flashed dangerously at her "My problem is your gang of pathetic friends. I mean not your gang but her." He turned around and pointed at me when he said 'her'.
I almost jumped out of my skin when I heard the venom behind the word 'her'. Few students in the corridor stopped walking and looked at me curiously. Frannie and I shared a bewildered look. Adrian was glaring at me with such contempt in his eyes, that I wondered what on Earth had I done to him for him to look at me like that.
"What on earth, Adrian?" Someone screamed behind us.
I gasped as I saw who was walking very defiantly towards Adrian. It was Allison.
"Hello to you too Allison." Adrian sneered.
"You" she said pointing at him "learn to be polite."
Adrian slapped her hand down "I wasn't talking about you."
"So, I have to come up to you if you are only talking about me?" Allison asked, her hands on her hips.
"Yes." Adrian answered nonchalantly.
Allison glared at him "I have no idea what happened to you but Adrian you better mend your ways or you will be in deep trouble. You've insulted far too many people these days and you are especially being a jerk to girls who are friends of mine or who are friends of Belle. Oh, and let's not forget how you practically glare at anyone who isn't a cheerleader or a jock or in the 'popular' clique."
"I am practically aware of that, Mum." Adrian smirked.
That was the last straw for my patience. I stalked right up to Adrian and slapped him. Hard. On the cheek.
Everybody looked at me in shock. I was shaking in anger and Adrian too looked shocked but quickly recovered.
"It's a good thing I don't hit girls or-" Adrian started.
"Or what? You would hit me back or would you punch me? Or will I probably be dead? Huh? Ooh! Maybe you wouldn't do anything, maybe you would call your loving girlfriend to do some Taekwondo moves and put me in hospital. Am I right?" I asked a mockingly frightened tone.
