Convenient Coincident

Chapter 8

"Er... Hey mom..." My dad finally said, still in mid-roll position on the floor.

"I come to give my eldest child a surprise visit and I come to find my grandchild a mess with an unknown boy on top of her, and my son the parent of the said grandchild acting like a complete child with his wife." My Gran ranted scolding all of us.

This is the time I noticed mine and Nates position. I was laying completely down mid kicking Nate, who was hovering over me, in the groin. I quickly shove him off of me, causing him to tumble to my right, where I flung him.

"We were just having a good time." My mom input rolling her eyes.

My mom and my Gran never could see eye to eye after the incident.

I quickly thought of something besides that incident, not in the mood for being sad since I promised myself I would never cry about it again.

"A good time? A GOOD TIME????? There is a new child in this household and this is how you act?!?! This is preposterous! My son should have found better." My Gran yelled her voice getting louder by the minute.

This is where my dad comes in, "Mom. I will not stay here and let you belittle my family. We are perfectly fine. We already got over this conversation." He stated so seriously, I had to do a double take to make sure it was actually my dad talking.

"Do not talk to me that way mister. If you and your wife don't start acting right, I already warned you what I would do, since Persie is soon to move out, and Sarah's job isn't bringing in enough money." My Gran warned.

That shut my dad up, but his eyes were blazing. Now I was confused, what did she warn dad? What would she do?

My dad was businessman of a small business, and my mom was a bookwriter, but she has yet to actually publish any books. But it wasn't like we were poor we had a nice house, I had an education, I had food to eat, we were perfectly fine.

We all turn our heads when we heard Nate awkwardly cough. "Sorry to interrupt but I think Landon, my sister and I are going to have to leave."

He gave me a small awkward wave and walked out of the kitchen meeting up with Lisa and Landon, who were already at the door.

"As for you young lady, what we're you doing with a guy on top of you?!" My Gran's accusing look now pointing at me.

"U-uh"

"Did you not learn from your other relationship?!" Gran screamed, venom lacing her tone effectively causing my eyes to fill with water.

Bringing that incident was crossing the line. I stood up running into my room slamming the door behind me, not letting the tears out of my eyes.

I could hear my Dad screaming at my Gran, and my Mom occasionally inputting her own words.

At one point I drift to sleep, having a nightmare of that one incident.

When I was going downstairs to get to school, I looked around to make sure Gran wasn't here still, I didn't want to be reminded every 5 minutes of what happened.

I quickly went to my car without breakfast and sped off to school

As I arrived I found Ebony talking quietly with Liam by his locker. Ebony caught me looking and I gave her a questioning look, but she just shook her head.

I kept walking and saw Nina up ahead so I just caught up with her.

"Hey Nina, how's it been?" I casually say to start a conversation.

"Good! I'm actually going out with Jace now!" Nina replied with a huge smile stretched on her face.

Jace was the guy Nina has had a crush on for almost a year now. I was happy for her, but it seemed like everyone I knew is finally finding their significant other.

"Really? How? What happened??? Details!!!" I ask enthusiasm exploding out of me.

"Actually I asked him out. I sent him a cliche note, you know like they do in the movies, and he said yes!! He said he was actually gonna ask me, he was just a little nervous." She babbled on about him, and my smile grew more.

Talking about the devil, he came up and wrapped his arm around Nina, bringing her with him in the other direction leaving me there in the hallway.

The bell rang, meaning it's time for class.
