"Athena!" I heard someone yell and then shake me causing my head to lol to the side.
"Ow." I said rubbing my neck them opening my eyes slowly. I was met with a pair of eyes that were oh so familiar.
Josh was shoved aside as Nate went and checked over me to make sure I was a okay.
"Oh my gosh Gummy, are you okay?" Nate asked holding my face in his hands. I swatted his hands from my face and looked at Josh.
He was sitting there with a mixed looked of relief, dread, and hope. My stomach churned as I remembered that night. I looked away and tried standing up.
"Gummy?" Josh asked and went to come help me stand up, I flinched away from him. His eyes flashed with a certain emotion but blinked it away stepping back a bit.
"It's a nickname." Nate answered coming to my aid and helping me up.
I looked over at Josh and he still had the same dark hair and glass like green eyes. His muscles were more evident now and his boyish face was now replaced with a strong jaw line, and high cheekbones.
"Josh, what are you doing here?" My voice was void of any emotion and quipped at the end.
"It's my house, well used to be." He said looking me straight in the eyes.
"Y-You're Jay?" I asked slowly. He hooked his eyebrow up and jammed his hands in his pockets like he used to when he was trying to act like he wasn't nervous.
"Yeah..." He trailed off. I looked over at Nate and he had a guilt stricken face. He knew all along.
"You knew your brother was the one who got my sister killed?!" I asked in bewilderment. He scratched the back of his head and nodded.
"Josh put me on the job of watching after you..." He kept talking but my mind stopped listening after that sentence.
"So the only reason you were ever with me was because of Josh?" I asked as my heart clenched. Nate's eyes widened when he realized how badly he phrased it.
"No, no I didn't mean it was like, my job to be with you, it was more just a job to watch over you, I started liking you on my own." He tried to save himself but I didn't believe him. How was I supposed to trust him?
I rushed out of his house and went to my thinking place.

"Caramel Cone with extra whip cream and gummybears on top please." I ordered my ice cream and paid. The perky red head cheerfully handed me my ice cream and I sat outside eating my ice cream staring out off of the perch the shop was on.
"Athena." I heard his voice say from behind me. I didn't turn around and just ate more of the ice cream. He pulled out a chair beside me and stared off, not turning towards me.
"What do you want Josh." I asked coldly. I turned towards him and felt my coldness melt away as I saw his face. His face was so... sad?
"I missed you Athena." He said with a sign of vulnerability laced into his voice. I turned back out to the view not wanting him to suck me in again. He was the one who left me.
"You left me. What's to miss?" I asked sarcastically, watching the sun set, it fusing into a purple hue.
"Everything." He muttered under his breath looking down at the ground. I looked back at him and saw those green eyes that looked so much like Nate's. "And I know deep down you miss me too." He said looking into my eyes and giving me a breath taking smile. I felt my heart skip a beat.
"Whatever." I said turning away from his now teasing smile. I could already feel myself want to smile. This is what it feel like before all the stuff happened when it was just me and him against the world.
"Come on admit it. You totally missed me." He said bumping his shoulder into mine. I rolled my eyes and laughed.
"Okay, maybe I missed you a little." I said gesturing with my fingers how little I missed him. He scoffed and grabbed my fingers extending them.
"You missed me just as much as I missed you."
"Yeah, yeah, whatever." I said snatching my hand back from him as he started now playing with my fingers and making weird shapes with them like he used to.
"So you still come to the same place to think, huh?" He said gesturing towards our ice cream infested surroundings.
"How could I possible find a new thinking place? Especially with my lack of actually being able to think without something sweet." I asked laughing. He nodded his head in understanding.
"Touché."
We kept talking for a while and then he offered to take me to the arcade to play Pac man. He is absolutely obsessed with that game and he used to always tease me on how much I sucked at it.
We were currently laughing at how I died after only 8 seconds when the red ghost came and killed me. He put his hand over mine which was over the control and helped me with the game.
He got so into the game I wasn't even trying with the control and my hand just kind of sat there while he jutted the control into every which way. I turned my head watching him play. His forehead was wrinkled in concentration and his eyes were slightly narrowed.
I felt my stomach flop as I remembered this was the guy I fell in love with a couple of years ago.
"Stop staring at me weirdo, is there something on my face?" He teasingly asked winking at me. My heart fluttered and my cheeks flamed up and I turned my head back to the game. He just won. For the fourth time in a row.
He let go of my hand on the control and back up.
"Ready to go? It's getting pretty late." He said pulling out his keys from his pocket, spinning them on his pointer finger.
"Yeah sure." I said following his lead out of the arcade.

"So, I guess this is until next time?" He asked nervously rocking on his heels.
"Yeah I guess...?" It seemed more like a question as I scratched the back of my head.
We were currently back at the ice cream shop where my car was left. I awkwardly turned to walk away but he grabbed my wrist and spun me around giving me a small peck on my cheek and I'm pretty sure my heart fluttered and my stomach felt like someone threw ice water in it.
"Till next time, Athena." Josh said winking at me and then walking to his car. My mouth was slightly gaping open and I finally walked to my car and headed home.
And then one thought dawned on me that nawed on my insides.
Nate.
