The sun shines through the shear material of the faded curtains. I inwardly groaned, pulling the thin sheets over my head.

"Keira, get out of bed. You'll be late for school." The huge screen showed an image of my mother standing in the kitchen of the house. The screen went blank after I sat up.

I went into the small bathroom across the hall to wash my face. Turning the lights on, I am greeted by my monster self. My brown locks were tousled around my head, my eyelashes were pointing in different directions around my boring brown eyes, a small stain of dried up saliva was on my chin.

"Mina, what day is it?" I turned on the faucet and washed my face. I took a towel and dried myself, looking up at the mirror.

Monday, October 3, 2134

The little blue words appeared onto the screen. It then disappeared, going back to my reflection.

I finished brushing my teeth, hopping into the shower. Dang it. I gritted through my teeth. The cold water fell onto me, making me shiver at its touch.

I got out of the shower, drying myself and walking into my room, passing my mother on the way.

"I left your clothes out on your bed. Forgot to turn on the hot water?" She asked.

"Yeah." I walked into my room, shutting it closed as I stripped down and got changed. I pulled the tan khakis on and tucked the blue polo shirt in.

I went out into the kitchen where mother was working. My damp hair rested on my shoulders as I ate.

"Tomorrow's your birthday." Mother intertwined her hands into my hair, untangling it with her fingers. "Father would be very proud." Father. The person I've never met. Each time my mother mentioned him, I would always wonder how he vanished.

Mother has raised me ever since I was born. No trace of my father anywhere. While everyone in the area seems to have a wonderful family with a mother, father and siblings; I only have my mother. There is a orphanage down the street for those who have no families. Visiting it helped me realized the importance of having someone you care for with you.

"Alright. You better head off." She tapped my shoulders, indicating that she has just finished my hair. It was pulled back into my normal ponytail.

I rushed to my room, picking up the small satchel. I reached over towards the small tabloid and put it in the front pocket. Heading out, the sun shown on my skin.

The five minute walk to school was the usual. The school bus swiftly glided past me, causing a gust of wind to make my ponytail flow forward onto my face. The hovercraft landed gently onto the school bus loop, allowing the ones on to flee onto school grounds.

Walking into the school gates, I made my way towards my locker. No one really notices me as I'm the quiet one. I put my hand onto the center of the locker. It quickly scans my hand and opens itself. I grab the small journal and close it tightly.

I stalked my way towards my first class, which was English. I made my way into my seat as everyone else was clustered chatting away. I entered my login onto the screen on my desk. Pushing a button, it rose up to my liking so I could see better.

"Alright class. Back to your seats." Ms. Pathiet said.

Everyone shuffled into their seats, logging into their TechDesks. Ms. Pathiet put up the lesson onto the screen up front in the class and was then projected onto the screens in front of us.

A message popped up at the bottom of my screen. I opened to find it was from a guy I've been talking to.

I smiled. I've been talking to him for a while. You're probably thinking, he could be a pedo! I know, but I just have a feeling that he's a nice guy. He says he's in his second year in uni.

I exited the screen with a small smile on my face. Going back to the lesson, I adjusted the screen back into its regular position on the desk. I grabbed my stylus and started writing my paper.

I quickly finished my paper and sent it onto Ms. Pathiet's desk. Closing the document, I went on to see that BritBoyStemonty is on but not on messenger. Grinning mischievously, I typed him a message to get him into trouble.

KeiratheAussie So you can't focus when you're talking to me ;)

I pressed send. Where did I get the confidence from? I immediately regretted sending it as I saw him typing back.

BritBoyStemonty Yup babe. Now stop. I won't be able to stop thinking about you if you continue ;) xx

My eyes widened at his choice of words. I shouldn't have sent that, I cursed under my breath.

BritBoyStemonty I'm just joking. But really. Stop it, you're distracting me :(

I purposely sent a ton of messages to tick him off. Just then the bell rang. I quickly logged out of my user and put everything back to the way it was. I hiked my satchel onto my shoulder, hugging the journal to my chest.
