It looked exactly like him. The picture was taken about twenty years ago. It was a picture of mum and dad, standing side by side, holding hands and smiling at the camera.
I held up the picture so that he could see. "It's him. It is him. See?"
His body tensed as his eyes roamed the picture. "It can't be." He muttered. He ran a hand through his already messy godlike hair.
It has to be, isn't it? "I still don't trust him." He frowned, continuously eyeing the ring.
I let out a sigh, putting the picture back in the journal. Going back to the last page, he must've left it here, or forgotten it.
"I should take a shower. I'll call you later, yeah?" I must've looked disappointed as he added, "Or you can watch." He smirked. My face flushed and I looked away.
"U-uh, I'll let you, um, have your privacy." I stammered over my words. I heard him chuckle from the screen.
"Alright then, princess." I cringed at his choice of words. The memories flooded back as of what happened that day. I closed my eyes tightly, trying to get rid of the images coming back.
"Are you okay?" His voice seemed so distant. I tilted my head down, letting the few strands of my fringe hang loosely over my face. I opened my eyes, the small tears blurred the brim of my eyes.
"Yeah." I let out a small sigh. "I'm fine." My voice sounded weak. Remembering where he touched me, gave me unwanted goosebumps to rise onto my skin. The word princess sounded so venomous coming out of Maxius' mouth.
"A-are you sure?" His voice was full of concern. His eyes and face had worried written all over it. "You look awfully pale."
"It's nothing. You shouldn't be worried." I shook my head, letting my fringes brush along my face. I gave him a weak smile.
"I wish I could be there for you." His voice so soft, if I could hug the sound waves coming through the screen, I would. "Would you like to talk--" I cut him off.
"You should go take your shower. I don't want to keep you here."
"You know you can tell me anything. Everything. I'll always be here to listen." He said in the most sincere tone, his eyes pleading for me to tell.
"I-I can't." It barely came out a whisper. I saw a flicker of hurt in his eyes as he stared intently at me.
"Oh, I see." He looked away, his hand fuming with the tips of his hair on his neck. His chest collapsed as a long sigh gave out of his lips. He stared up at the camera, hurt flashed through his chocolate eyes. "Bye, Keira." He looked down at his lap before reaching his hand towards the screen.
"Wait!" I hadn't intended to yell at the screen. I saw him pause his hand in midair, his gaze looking up towards mine. "Uh- I- uh-" I fumbled with trying to catch my words. My face flushed with embarrassment as I could still feel his gaze piercing through my scalp.
"I need to take a shower. I'll call you later. Bye, Keira." He looked as if he was being forced to make those words to come out of his mouth. He gave me a sympathetic look and ended the call. I closed my eyes eruptedly, not letting the tears to spring out.
I hadn't meant to mean it in any negative way. Of course I trust Alek. He knew practically almost everything about me. Talking to him over the network brought us close and the past two days personal chatting with each other brought us even more closer.
I brought my knees up onwards my chest, cradling myself. Taking a small look towards the window, it was still fairly light outside. I let out a small huff.
I stood up and walked towards the bathroom, splashing my face to clear my head. I stared at the reflection of myself.
"Mina, do you know if mother will be home soon?" I asked the mirror.
She has said she will be running late coming home tonight, so don't wait up too long.
The words flickered onto the screen.
She also said sorry for not being with you, and that she'll be home to tuck you goodnight.
I let a small chuckle escape my lips as remembering the fact mother and I always had a tradition where whenever it is ones birthday, the other was to tuck them in goodnight. I always loved tiptoeing onto the bed and pulling the covers up to her chin while we both giggled. Then I would climb onto the bed then slide under the covers, giving her a sloppy kiss on the cheek then curling up in a ball, hugging her and falling asleep. Once I started year 6, she only tucked me in and gave me a kiss on the forehead and sat by my side, rubbing comforting circles on my back until I feel under a peaceful slumber.
I smiled and walked out into my room, noticing how dark it all of a sudden was. I looked over towards the window seeing the darkness through the sheer material of the curtains. Strange. I looked at the time to see that it was only 17:13. It's never this dark at this time. I scrunched my face in confusion.
The big PCS started flickering in the dark, causing me to jump. I quickly made my way over towards it, seeing Alek's face on the big screen. I let out a shaky squeal, clutching my chest.
I sent him a deadly glare as he sat there laughing at my cowardness. My face softened as I analyzed his face. His eyes shown specks of golden as he laughed. His perfect pearl white teeth appeared through his plump lips.
"Are you done checking me out yet?" He teased.
"Continue to flatter yourself." I scoffed playfully. His gaze scanned the small room, his brows creasing ever so slightly.
"Why is your room so dark?" I could ask the same question myself.
"I don't know." I looked around at my surroundings. "It's only 17:30 here but it's already this dark. It just doesn't seem right." I stared back at the screen noticing how pitch black it was other than the dim light coming from a nearby lamp.
"It's pretty dark here too." His brows creased. It's quite strange. His eyes flickered back to mine, a slight smile on his face. "Have you written anything yet?"
"No, not yet." I stared at the journal he'd given me. "I'm still thinking about what to write."
"Well that shouldn't be hard. The passages you've told me to read over are really intriguing." His eyes glistened with amusement. I shook my head.
I stared at the drawings. "You never told me you drew."
"I hand draw for the same reason you do to hand write. It has a better feel and they seem more natural then the network software." He stated. I smiled at his statement. We've known each other for so little but know so much of each other.

So are you all enjoying my frequent updates? (Well duh, I already wrote most of the books.) This was more of a filler chapter, to be honest.
Poor Keira. Her birthday wasn't that fun. The only few moments of happiness she's gotten were cute, in my opinion.
Thank you so much for reading! Remember to vote and comment and like the Facebook fanpage in my bio!
Dedication: @timmytar Hi! >~< Though I'd dedicate this chapter to you.
