I waved at them as we pulled out of the parking lot. I watched as their already tiny figures become tinier as the distance between us grew.

"Today's been the only regular day, hasn't it?" He asked without taking his eyes off the road. I rose an eyebrow. "The whole earth thing. It's a normal day now."

"Yeah. I guess." I stared out the window. The silence enveloped us like a white blanket. It was nice, but not enough. "Alden?"

"Hmm?" He hummed. I hesitated for a bit.

"W-where were you a couple days ago? After you left my house." I could feel him tense at my words.

"I was taking care of business."

"Alden..."

"What?" He snapped. I was taken aback from his sudden outburst to the subject.

"Nothing." I mumbled, looking towards the window. I let out a heavy sigh before starting, "How do Ms. Kartner and Calvin know you?"

"I knew it." He huffed. "What did they tell you?"

"Nothing." He looked at me. "Honestly." I put my hands up in defense as he rolled his eyes. "All they said was that they knew you, so I got confused. I mean, it is a small neighborhood so I guess everyone would know each other a bit. But, you had such a strong connection with everyone there. Positive or negative, you all still had a strong connection. Like you knew all of them. And they all knew you."

He pulled the bullet in the driveway, before stopping. "Yeah. We do." Was all he said as he leaned his head back onto the headrest, his hands still gripping the wheel but with a loosened grip.

We sat in silence as only our breaths and heartbeats were the only things playing in the background.

He let out a sigh, causing my attention to turn towards him. His eyes were closed as his face was turned towards the roof of the bullet.

"I was supposed to be admitted there a while back. That's why they know me."

His words floated around my head the rest of the day. 'I was supposed to be admitted there a while back. That's why they know me.' What does he mean? The thousands of questions swarming around my brain weren't helping with my obtrusiveness.

I noticed how everywhere in the house, there was no trace of any family members. Like he's been isolated in this compact space for years. No family photos. No nothing. Just him, the house, and the little amount of things he has.

I pulled out my tab to see if I had any new messages.

BritBoyStemonty Hey

BritBoyStemonty have you gone to the orphanage yet?

BritBoyStemonty It's a normal day today, huh?

I quickly replied.

KeiratheAussie yeah, I went to the orphanage. There's this new girl that was admitted in and she's the cutest. No favoritism intended.

BritBoyStemonty you always say they're all cute

BritBoyStemonty I tried calling your PCS but you weren't there

Dangit. I didn't tell him about leaving.

KeiratheAussie yeah, I'm staying at a friends house now

I heard the bathroom door open so I'm assuming that he is finished.

I tucked the tab into one of my pockets before making my way over towards my bag to get some clothes.

I walked out with my fresh clothes, using a towel to dry my hair. I walked into his room to find him crouched on the ground, his back towards me. I walked over to see him holding an object in his hands. The leathery texture in his hands.

I made a sharp inhale as he turned around to look at me, with eyes widened.

"It-I I didn't mean to--"

I always end with a cliffhanger, don't I? HALF A MAN AT BEST WITH HALF AN ARROW IN MY CHEST CAUSE I MISS EVERYTHING WE DO IM HALF A HEART WITHOUT YOUUUU...sorry.... this is what happens when you're listening to something while writing and it sometimes gets to your head. Oi.
