My eyes widened. The paper withered into a black fume and disappeared. I placed my hand where the fume was. Where did he get it from?

My satchel started to vibrate. I ruffled through it to see if there were anymore. My tab was going on. I grabbed it to see a call from Alek. I smiled and picked it up.

"Hi." I waved at the screen. I then brought it down seeing how pathetic that must've been.

"Hello my birthday girl." He smiled. His eyes trailed from mine to the vial. "Love." He whispered. He looked back up so I could meet his chocolate eyes. I sucked in a breath as his eyes held so much emotion, that was quite unreadable.

"So um..." I played with the end of my braid.

"I got you something." He blurted.

"Oh you didn't have to."

"Do you have a teleporter?" He asked. I nodded. I gave him the information and within seconds the gift was in the teleporter in the corner of the room.

I stood up and went to it. I gently grabbed it out of the air. It was a small box. I plopped down in front of the screen on my bed and placed it on my lap. It was neatly tied up in a single lavender ribbon.

"Are you going to open it already?" He eagerly said. I rolled my eyes. I pulled on the ribbon, letting it fall onto my lap. I lifted the small lid up revealing a line of tissue paper.

"Where'd you get this?" I pointed towards the paper. He stayed quiet and stared at me intensely. I lifted the tissue paper to reveal a pale journal. It was brand new. The leather hugged it snug. Inside the box, there was a little note.

Open it.

I opened the cover to see little hand drawings scattered all around the page. The one that caught my eye was a drawing of a girl looking down smiling. Her hair was placed messily on her head. Her lips curled up in a smile, emphasizing her cheek bones. Underneath the drawing was a signature.

Alek Zachary Stemonty

Drawing of Keira Dae Jann

My cheeks started to warm up. It's a drawing... of me. Yet she looks beautiful- nothing like I do. Everything about her looks perfect, where as I am not even close to being so.

Scanning through the page, there was a drawing of a small journal in the far right corner. October 4, 2116 was written in graffiti letters on the bottom of the inside cover. There was a drawing of a flower being blown by a gust of wind as it lead a trail of petals across the inside cover. Following that, a dozen birds flying towards the north.

Turning the page, it had a quote written on it.

"There comes a day when you realize turning the page is the best feeling in the world, because you realize there is so much more to the book than the page you were stuck on." Alek Zachary Stemonty

I smile as I run my fingers over the dented curves of the words carved into the page. I looked up as I saw him staring down at his fumbling hands. The ends of my lips pulled into a bigger smile.

"Thank you." I whispered. He looked up, our eyes locked as his brown orbs bored into mine. A smile tugged on his face.

"Hazel." I scrunched my face confused. "They're hazel-- your eyes-- they're not brown, but hazel." His eyes danced around my face, examining it to see if there was anything else he had missed.

"And you have a little mole under your left nostril." He pointed through the camera, not exactly pointing at anything in particular. He then retracted his hand, laughing at himself.
