How can you understand something that you never had? If you let me, I can help you out with all of that~
I wrote down on the paper. It felt so nice, writing on actual paper instead of the tabs or TechDesks. How the pen easily glides across the smooth paper. The nice feel of your hand moving swiftly across.
The song Alek sang me to sleep yesterday played over in my head. I couldn't quite make out every single word, but the one sentence that caught my attention, 'How can you understand something that you never had? If you let me, I can help you out with all of that.' followed by the words, 'let me love you, and I will love you, until you learn to love yourself.' What was that all supposed to mean?
I closed the journal on my desk. It's now 6:23 and the day is perfect. The sun is actually out at the correct time.
I scurried through the house, getting my necessities for school. Today was a Friday, last day of school for the week. A smile tugged my lips as I remembered that tomorrow, I would be able to visit the orphanage.
I walked down the small hall to see yet again, my mother's room deserted. I'm getting worried. Why hasn't she come home in so long?
"Mina? Have you heard anything from mother?"
"No, she has not sent anything yet." I huffed in annoyance. Why isn't she home? It's not quite like her.
"You should be off now. Don't want to be late for school." Sometimes Mina can have such a monotone voice while other times she actually sounds like a real human being. Its scary and cool how scientists can do that--create a device that can manipulate a humans voice and change back into its monotone ways.
Walking up the stairs, I bump into someone. Their arm holds onto my waist, balancing myself. "Oh, Keira. Hi."
I looked up to see Alden, his face slightly pink as he scratched the back of his neck. "Hi!" He flinched at my loudness. "Opps, sorry. Hi." He chuckled.
"So how are you?"
"I'm fine. You?"
"Okay." He raised an eyebrow as we walked to class. "Mother hasn't exactly come home in the past 2 days and I'm worried." I chewed on the inside of my cheeks.
"She messaged you right?"
I nodded. "But she didn't message today."
"Well that's odd. Have you message her?"
------------------
End of school, no sign of mother. "Come on. I'll drive you home." Alden offered.
"Oh, no it's fine. I don't want to be a bother."
"Didn't I tell you I would drive you home from now on?" Oh yeah. That.
I got in the Bullet. We drove to my house and he drops me off. "Do you want me to stay?"
"Yeah. That'd be nice."
We both entered the silent house. Our footsteps echoed through the empty halls. On the door, was taped a note. I walked towards it and plucked it off the door.
You may be wondering where your mother is. A few days, has it been? So gullible with the messages. Tsk. Tsk. While you've been with Prince Charming 1 and 2, you were so oblivious with your mother's disappearance. I'll let you figure out.

The paper then vanished in the thin air, leaving a dark fume in its place. Just like the note a couple days ago. If it's signed by M, then that means--
"Come on." I felt him tug my arm. I turned around to see a warning emotion on his face. "It's not safe here."
"But--"
"He came into your house and put the note there. Hell, he could even still be here." He looked around frantically. "Please, come with me. You can stay with me, anywhere else but here." His eyes pleading for me to go.
------------------
I climbed into the vehicle, placing the small bag on my lap. In a matter of 5 minutes, I managed to stash as many things as I could before I left home.
Double checking one last time, I have a few pair of clothes, my extra school uniform, a copy of my favorite book A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks, a hairbrush, everything else I needed, my keys, and most importantly, the journals. I can't leave them behind--I just can't.
"You okay?" His soft voice startled me a bit. I simply nodded, letting my gaze fall on the house.
As we drove away in a comfortable silence towards the other side of the small neighborhood, I let out a sad sigh. Goodbye, Mina. Goodbye, books. Goodbye, memories. Goodbye, mother.
"We'll find her. I know we will." His certain, soothing voice drained everything else. I looked over towards his side. "We'll find her." He gave me a reassuring smile, placing a hand on mine, as he continued down the road.
••Author's Note••
You're all probably wondering, wahhhh? I am sorry. This is the type of plot twist that happens when you're listening to Say Something at 9 in the morning on the bus while writing, then out of nowhere the crashing effect in the beginning of I Should've Kissed You starts blaring into your ears on a 2-hour delay morning. Wonderful. Just wonderful. I BLAME YOU SHUFFLE MODE! IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!
Anyways, how did you think of the plot twist? I originally had it as her mom doing something behind her back buiuutttt plot twist? Yes? No? Comment down below? Hahaha that rhymes. Okay, I am totally bipolar nowadays.
JUST WATCHED THE FAULT IN OUR STARS YESTERDAY. Two of my friends were crying while everyone else in our group were laughing at them xD WE LOB JU. Even my boyfriend cried. Aww Ahah. Sure "I was just sweating through my eyes." Nice move. Nice.
