"Keira, wake up." A voice echoed through the small room.

"Five more minutes." I mumbled, pulling the duvet over my head.

I heard chuckling, causing me to sit straight up. Looked around the room to see nothing, until my eyes landed on the tan boys face on the screen.

"Ahh!" I fell off the bed, falling with a loud thump, pulling the sheets down with me.

He started to chuckle as I rub my bum. "Happy Birthday, love."

"Well, thanks for the wake up call and birthday wish." I stood up running a hand through my bed hair. I must look a complete mess- like I always am. "How did you know my PCS?" I looked at him confused.

"I, uh, found it on the network." He scratched his neck. "Not in a stalkerish way. Just you know. I just wanted to say Happy Birthday to you and be the first one and all you know cause you're 18 now so yeah I'm rambling too much aren't I?" He chuckle and looked up at the screen, like he was staring straight through my eyes.

I gave a small smile and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. Looking towards the mirror, I could see how hideous I looked. My bed hair was everywhere.

"Um..." I ran a hand through my hair, trying to mat it down. I swipe it over a shoulder. "I, uh, better get ready for school." I said nervously. I looked down to see my shirt slightly rising up past my belly button so I pulled it down.

"Oh." I could hear disappointment in his voice. "You'll message me later, yeah?" He looked at me with hopeful eyes.

"Yeah. I'll message you." I smiled.

"So, I'll leave you to do whatever you girls do in the morning to get ready, yeah?" He chuckled. "But you're not like most girls. So I bet you don't do that much stuff to yourself." His eyes glistened as he said I wasn't like most girls.

"Keira? Are you awake yet?" My mom's voice echoed through the house.

"Yes!" I yelled back. I turned back towards him as he started to laugh. "What?" I couldn't help but crack a smile.

"I'll let you get ready. Goodbye, love." He said sending one last smile and ending it.

"Goodbye," I whispered back. "Alek." His name brushed over top of my lips smoothly. I smiled.

I walked into the bathroom and got ready. I frowned at the sight in front of me. My hair was somewhat matted down, but still frizzy and tangled. I ran my hand through my hair trying to get the tangles out and did it into a simple braid. That will hopefully keep it tamed.

I walked outside and got changed into my normal clothes, as Tuesdays were normal wear at school. An oversize tee and some faded jeans. I let the shirt hang off one shoulder as I let my braid cover the bare skin. I grabbed my satchel and headed towards the kitchen.

"Ugh my tab." I walked back to my room and fetched the object off of my nightstand. I walked back towards the kitchen where I saw my mum stand and gave me a warm smile.

"Happy birthday, sweetheart."

"Thanks, mum." I went up to her and gave her a hug. I let go and she held out a small box.

"It was your grandmother's. On your dad's side. She gave me it when I was younger. I really do miss her. She was a nice, young, sophisticated woman." She looked down at her hands with the small lavender box. She lifted it up closer to me.

I slowly took it out of her palms and lifted the small lid, revealing a rice necklace. Inside the pink heart shaped vial, was a small flower and a small piece of rice with the word love neatly written.

"She had said it was a rose." I looked up at her confused. "The flower there." She pointed at the crimson colored flower. "'A rose can be delicate and beautiful, but it can be painful and ugly. There are always two sides to everything.' she said. I do believe it is true. That there are two sides to everything."

I looked at her puzzled.

"I don't know if I should take this." I held the box towards her. She closed her palm on top of my hand.

"She would want you to have it." She gave a small smile. "Take it." She let go of my hand, bringing it to her lap. I carefully took the rice necklace out.

"Put it on." She smiled brightly. I haven't seen her smile like that in forever. I handed it to her. She walked behind me and placed it carefully on my collarbone. I placed my hand on top of the vial and smiled.

"Thank you." I whispered to her.

"You're welcome, honey." She enclosed me in a tight hug. "You better go to school. You'll be late." She grabbed me by the shoulder. "You look so beautiful." She whispered to me. "Happy birthday, sweetheart." She let go of me so I could get to school.

"Bye, mum." I gave her a kiss on the cheek.

"Goodbye, Keira." She kissed me back on the cheek. I walked out onto the street to school. And again, the bus flies by, causing my shirt to rise a bit. I hugged my satchel closer and walked towards the school entrance.

"Keira." Someone yells out my name. I look around to see other people minding their own business. I guess I'm just hearing things. I walked up the stairs and towards my locker.

"Keira Jann." The person said my name, continued by a phew huffs. I turned around to see his brown hair messily tousled and his chocolate eyes staring at me. "Happy birthday."

Chapter six! Finally we've moved onto a different day instead of getting stuck on one day.

'A rose can be delicate and beautiful, but it can be painful and ugly. There are always two sides to everything.'

I don't really know if anyone has said that quote before but I'm just going to say I did since I don't really know.
