I decided to give Maddie her space and sleep with Patrick. He seemed even more stressed than he did yesterday. It upset me, a lot. The next morning, he didn't get up at 7 like he should have. After trying for 10 minutes to get him up, I thought of pulling him out of bed. Literally.
I lightly took off the covers and then nearly fainted. His arm had cuts everywhere. I thought to myself, "That's why he's been stressed." He arose out of bed finally. Too bad I'd already seen his cuts. I helped him up, but I was still in shock. Patrick. Stump. Cut.
I definitely wasn't expecting to be asked to perform in 4th period. Patrick looked excited, though. He was wearing a cardigan so nobody could see his cuts. I felt awful. We talked about what song to perform, and we finally decided on "The Phoenix." It took a while to get situated, since we had to go to the music room, but we were finally ready.
("The Phoenix"
Put on your war paint
You are a brick tied to me that's dragging me down
Strike a match and I'll burn you to the ground
We are the jack-o-lanterns in July
Setting fire to the sky
Here it comes, this rising tide
So come on
Put on your war paint
Cross walks and crossed hearts and hope-to-dies
Silver clouds with grey lining
So we can take the world back from a heart attack
One maniac at a time we will take it back
You know time crawls on when you're waiting for the song to start
So dance alone to the beat of your heart
Hey young blood
Doesn't it feel like our time is running out?
I'm gonna change you like a remix
Then I'll raise you like a phoenix
Wearing our vintage misery
No, I think it looked a little better on me
I'm gonna change you like a remix
Then I'll raise you like a phoenix
Bring home the boys and scrap scrap metal the tanks
Get hitched, make a career out of robbing banks
Because the world is just a teller and we are wearing black masks
"You broke our spirit," says the note we pass
So we can take the world back from a heart attack
One maniac at a time we will take it back
You know time crawls on when you're waiting for the song to start
So dance alone to the beat of your heart
Hey young blood
Doesn't it feel like our time is running out?
I'm gonna change you like a remix
Then I'll raise you like a phoenix
Wearing our vintage misery
No, I think it looked a little better on me
I'm gonna change you like a remix
Then I'll raise you like a phoenix
Put on your war paint
[4x]
The war is won
Before it's begun
Release the doves
Surrender love
(Wave the white flag!)
Hey young blood
Doesn't it feel like our time is running out?
I'm gonna change you like a remix
Then I'll raise you like a phoenix
Wearing our vintage misery
No, I think it looked a little better on me
I'm gonna change you like a remix
Then I'll raise you like a phoenix
Hey young blood
Doesn't it feel like our time is running out?
I'm gonna change you like a remix
Then I'll raise you like a phoenix
Put on your war paint) Patrick sounded amazing to me, Joe, Andy, and the whole class. Maddie, Jessica, and Jada came to hug us, and Maddie's friends Mack and Brad congratulated us. Patrick looked happy. I couldn't confront him just yet.
