Lexa
The second the female voice rang out, my arms had slipped off Clarke and grabbed the dagger from the bedside table. I could see the silhouette in the darkness and pounced on them, sending them flying to the ground. I placed the dagger against their neck as I crouched over them like an animal, my nightgown flowing behind me.
I was breathing heavily and my heart was beating fast. It seemed like the only noise in the room. Clarke had gotten up and out of the bed, standing at the end of it. I knew she was waiting for me to say something.
"Don't you recognize me, sister?"
Luna.
"Why are you here?" I seethed.
"We can talk if you take the knife off of me."
"I don't want to talk." I spat.
"Well, I think we're going to have to." Luna said.
I growled and pulled the knife away from her and stood. I glanced over at Clarke, who looked confused. "Luna is my sister." I said to her. "She was the eighth Nightblood." Recognition flashed over Clarke's face, remembering the conversation we had after we made love.
I turned back to Luna. "What do you want, Luna? I've let you live in peace."
"I don't want peace, Lexa. After the decisions you've made with her people," she said, looking pointedly at Clarke. "I will be better for the Coalition."
I narrowed my eyes at her. "I made the Coalition."
"But your loyalty no longer seems to lie with it." Luna said. "My intentions are to become the Commander."
"There already is a Commander." Clarke said from beside me. I smiled gratefully at Clarke. Luna looked lazily at Clarke, disappointed that Clarke didn't know the answer. Realization flashed across Clarke's face and she looked at me with horror. I swallowed and looked back to Luna.
"You fled, Luna. My people will not want a coward as their Commander."
"This girl makes you a coward, Lexa." Luna seethed, motioning toward Clarke.
And then it hit me.
"You did it." I said quietly.
"What?"
"You threw the dagger. You threatened Clarke." I said, gripping the dagger in my hand tighter.
Luna nodded. "I did." She admitted.
"Why are you doing this Luna? You didn't want to be Commander then, and I'm sure you don't really want to be Commander now."
"I've grown." Luna said. "I was a child then. I didn't know what I wanted."
"We were all children, Luna. You had the same responsibilities as the rest of us. The only difference was that we stayed and fought. You ran." I spat.
Luna nodded. "I couldn't kill you."
"Do not use that as an excuse."
Luna sighed. "It's not. It's the truth. But the fact remains the same. You've lost your touch, sis."
"I beg to differ." Clarke growled.
I couldn't listen to this anymore. I called to my guards in Trigedasleng. Luna was coy--I wasn't surprised if she managed to get through the warriors stationed outside my door without killing them and drawing attention to herself. After a few moments, warriors rushed in.
"Take her to the dungeons." I said in Trigedasleng. "I will deal with her once the sun has risen."
"Yes, Heda." The warriors said.
