Lexa
I watched as Clarke gripped onto the radio. She glanced at me nervously before pressing the button.
"This is Clarke. Come in, Arkadia." Clarke said. She waited for a moment before there was a voice on the other end.
"Clarke?"
I knew that voice, and Clarke did too. Her face fell, thinking about the conflicting emotions she felt for him. She looked up at me and I nodded my reassurance, trying to comfort her to the best of my ability. She looked back to the radio.
"Bellamy, can I speak with my mom?" Clarke asked politely. She was being cold and distant, but I admired her efforts to be civil.
I heard Bellamy sigh. He obviously wanted to talk with her, but if he knew Clarke as I did, he already accepted he would not get his way. "Yeah. Just a minute."
Clarke and I waited in silence. I moved over to sit next to her on the couch and leaned back against it.
"Clarke, it's me." Abby said.
Clarke smiled nervously. Her mother had asked her to stay in touch, not only for her daughter's sake but for her people's, as well. Abby had to know that everything was going as it should be in Polis—that Clarke remained the Ambassador, Skaikru remained part of the coalition, and no threats were made to Skaikru in Polis. I was sure she wanted to check up on Raven, who was like a daughter to her, and Octavia. Clarke had perfectly good reason to be nervous. She hadn't done the one thing her mother asked her. "I'm sorry I haven't called. I know you wanted me to."
Abby sighed. "It's okay. We've been busy—trying to fix everything that Pike did."
Clarke nodded. Her shoulders relaxed and her eyes softened as her mother consoled her. "What's going on with Alie?"
"We're still figuring it out. It's gotten worse...but don't worry. We don't need your help. Not yet." Abby said.
I looked to Clarke with worry. They didn't need her help now, but I knew they would soon. They always did. Clarke was demanded from by her people. It wasn't fair, but being a leader to our people never was. It wouldn't be fair if Clarke had to go back again, not to me. I looked at the blonde longingly, already thinking about her departure.
"How's Kane?"
"He's fine. We're all fine. Bellamy...he's trying to repent for what he's done." Mom said. Clarke nodded.
Clarke and her mother talked for a few more minutes about Arkadia. They discussed patients, especially one who had given birth recently. I smiled. It was always nice when a new life was brought into the world. It was a sign from our ancestors that we still deserved life. And for the Sky People, it must've been very important to them. As far as I knew, this was the first child born on the ground for them. It was the start of a new generation.
"How's Lexa?" Abby asked. Clarke blushed. Apparently, I had been so quiet Abby did not realize my presence.
"She's good." Clarke said. She glanced at me and smiled. "She's actually here."
"Oh." Abby said. "Hi, Commander."
I smiled. "Hello, Abby. And you may call me Lexa." I said. If Raven and Octavia were allowed to call me Lexa, I saw no reason why Clarke's mother couldn't.
"Okay, Lexa." There was an awkward, brief moment before Clarke spoke.
"We never actually got to check Lexa's wound." Clarke said suddenly. "I meant to bring her to Arkadia so you could look at it, but I never got the chance."
"As long as she's fine now, I don't think there's an issue." Clarke abruptly lifted up my shirt and looked at the wound, which was beginning to scar. I watched with rosy cheeks as Clarke looked at it, barely acknowledging me. Her fingers slid against my skin, causing me to shiver.
