Don't slip away. I can feel it
happening and each day, I am
losing more and more hope as you
fade and become nothing but a
mirage in my mind. The only
time I can still see you is in
the rippling reflection in the
water and once in a while, when
I sleep at night. I've stopped dreaming
of you every night and now
you only appear every
so often as a reverie,
and when you do I'm completely
conflicted between what could have
been and what could still be if we
were both braver. I can feel you
slipping away and I have a
harder time of remembering
exactly what your voice sounded
like and whether that beauty mark
was under your left or your right
eye and if your hair is shorter
or longer than it was when I
last saw you. Please stay with me. I
do not want you to become just
another faded memory.
