Shooting stars shoot across the sky,
In the mere blink of an eye.
Shining, twinkling, not at all near,
Vanishing as quick as they first appear.
They lit up stars around them too,
As they sparkled where they flew.
Standing out from all the rest,
Careening towards the north, east, south or west.
They scatter stardust everywhere;
Getting a glimpse is rare.
Make a wish, watch them soar,
Seeing one is something worth waiting for.
To watch shooting stars pass by, just be patient,
They are the only stars with a destination.
