Hopes and dreams and wishes untrue,
Peering at the sky no longer a vivid blue.
The sun has set, the moon is resplendent and high,
Darkness fills this magnificent sky.
The stars that twinkle late at night
Like billions of minuscule, coruscating lights.
We whisper wishes to these stars,
And hope with all our might that they aren't too far.
Stars, they shall not ever fade away,
Pulsating with the promise that they will always stay.
Little incandescent bodies, so far from here,
I cannot imagine how bright you must be if I'm near.
Bulbs of brightness, you will see,
Someday, just what you can be.
